Need help with coolant resovoir
ok for some reason since I been boosted, it looks like my coolant resevoir is splirting out coolant. I dont know when this happens but after hard driving or even mild driving I pull over and pop the hood and some coolant/water is on the resevoir, not too much but you can see some did splirt out. The actual coolant isnt leaking only the resevoir and I cant tell when it does it cause by the time I come out its not leaking or anything.
Can anyone help me fix this problem or is this normal?
I didnt blow a head gasket. I never saw the temps go above right below middle. Max I been boosted was 8-9 psi cause I spiked.
Someone give me some suggestions here. Btw I got check engine light today, but I dont thinks thats because of the coolant because the coolant has been doing this for past week or so..
I am pretty sure this is because of the turbo because I never had a problem like this before when I was N/A even if I floored it all the time. Could it be because Im in boost constantly and my engine bay gets really hot?

Forget the idiot gauge, do you have a real watertemp gauge in the system?
I'd be hard pressed to believe its boiling, but it could happen. Check the hose for a tiny hole... thats always a possibility.

NOT NORMAL
Its your headgasket. I drove about 400 miles with my headgasket blown. It just depends how bad the condition of the headgasket is. I had no oil in coolant or anything, first sign was the coolant filling up the resovoir. When that happens the cooling system is releiving pressure, which is caused by heat (blown headgasket).
Mine went due to running to lean, that might be your problem also.
PS i wasted about 100$ buying new thermostat, fan switch, relay replacment ect just because the "normal" signs of a blown headgasket wernt there.

what else should I do? so the temp never went up, wonder if I blew a head gasket. there is no hole in the host or anything. I think Im running lean cause the sf fmu isnt all that great...
I had that when i was N/A it was my head gasket also. Now my problem is ever since i have been turbo my coolent level keeps dropping everyday i put coolant in and it always gets lower and lower i notice because my car temp rises in long drives or at idle then when i fill it up it stops. My turbo is water cooled could that be it?

just the missing link and sf fuel management unit which is just a fuel pump, Im gonna switch to srt injectors and e-manage or ems, right now I think Im running lean cause of the sf fmu. Hopefully that will fix the problem? or is my headgasket already blown and need to be replaced?

im only boosting 4 lbs normally, max 6psi. how could my hg blow so quick and easily?

Only time it would happen is when the Head gasket is done. Just get it replaced and get a better fuel system.
as far as the question of why it happened so quick, all it takes is one misfire and you're done....

I agree with everone else. It's definately blow. My engine did the same thing.
Buy the nippon leakless headgasket for about 22-26 bucks. Switch it out, then you can boost happily. Stock headgaskets are weak as hell, and go very quickly. Replace it soon, I drove "softly" as you said for a lil while but soon enough it started happening with that right away as well. Good luck with everything though, it isn't as bad as you think.

It happened so fast because your racing Mustang Gt,Sti and other 300hp cars and pushing your car to the limit with a cheap fuel system untuned and when your racing you probably get boost spikes remember why you asked why you shouldnt boost in 5th thats why

So how long does it take to change out the hg? an hour? Doesnt seem like it would take too long, but than again, everything takes way longer than estimated.

I lowered boost to 4 so it wont spike, I should have kept it there. I drove hard in some spots, the coolant was still spraying and not much only when I keep on the gas. Im going to leave it at 4psi and change the hg to nippon one. Will the arp headstuds be a good purchase?

Well just remember redline the longer you wait to replace the more money your gonna end up spending, alot more oil is going to building up in your water jackets, causing the coolant to flow less and less. took me about an extra hour cleaning and flushing the jackets. It will get worse eventually trust me. Your also running the chance of warping your head due to continuous overheating, which will require milling which is $$$$
I bet you dont have any white smoke coming from your tailpipe right? i didnt either.

no smoke. Just some coolant when opening hood later there are stains. I could never get it tospray coolant out even if Im pulling the throttle cable in the engine bay to rev the engine to get it hot.
I am going to switch it soon. hopefully by 2 weeks. My cel light came off also after lowering boost. I dont know if the cel was from my megan resonator pipe becuase it doesnt cause a cel for me ever since I installed the spark plug non-fouler. The cel stayed on for a day.

some of the sf fuel systems had a 10:1 disc instead of a 12:1 like the civics need. If thats the case, there is the reason it *could have* gone lean.
Or you could have weakened it by using an 80 shot of nitrous and the turbo finished it off.

If you want to confirm that the head gasket is blown. Most general repair shops have a combustion checker. It sticks into your radiator and has a chemical in it that senses the combustion gases in the cooling system and changes colors of the chemical. Its a real fast test and fairly inexpsensive.
