Alcohol Injection causing Turbo Lag ???
Ever since I got the SF kit I have been running low 6 psi and high 8 psi without any problems at all. In fact, I must say that the overall performance have been outstanding (T3 Super 60).
Two days back I decided to hook up the alcohol injection and go for 10 psi. I used the washer fluid bottle and 100% pure methanol for the application. I also got an LED connected to the alcohol sensor and got it set up at 8 psi. But somehow, the results are not as good as I expected.
First of all, the 2 psi gain that I get from switching from 8 to 10 psi, does not seem to be as strong as the 2 psi gain from 6 to 8 psi.
But the real problem I am getting now (after alcohol injection) is that there is a big amount of lag. The first two gears are somewhat ok (with all the tire spin), but the moment I shift to third, the car gets 'lifeless' and then when the rpm crosses 6000, it starts flying ..... and then the fourth gear goes just fine.
Any ideas on what could be causing this ...... ? Any solution ???

does your check engine light flash at all when the alcohol is being fed into the throttle body?
you said the car lagged a little when boosting running pure methanol, try running a 75% to 25% water mix instead... pure methanol will actually reduce performance using alcohol....
i think another problem you might be having is that the nozzle that sf gave you might be too big... meaning there might be too much alcohol being fed and causing the car to run way too rich.... if you pull the peice out that screws into the elbow... you should see a copper fitting with a small hole on the tip... take that to a place where they sell welding supplies... ask them for that same fitting but tell them that you want the hole on the tip of the fitting to be smaller and they should hook you up...
hope this helps...

too much alcohol. The kit uses Tweco Mig welding tips. The one you got was probably a .035" nozzle. Try a .030" or a .025" tip. They just screw in. Make sure you use lok tite.
you can get them at any welding shop.

Ok I switched from pure methanol to 50/50 water methanol .... still no difference. Now the only thing left is to reduce the amount of mixture being injected. Hope that solves the problem, otherwise its bye bye to the Alcy Injection system!
