Unhappy Timing Off???

well some of you guys know i'm boosted for about 6months now, but i thought i'd ask...

now boosting I know I need to get a piggyback ECU to compensate with fuel and timing... which I don't have, I only have VAFC2... my first question is

(NORMAL DRIVING) when i'm on first gear i nomally rev up to 5k rpm before I change gear... but my car hinders like it's choking out of air??? is my timing way off? this only happens on 1st gear NORMAL DRIVING, it doesn't happen when I floor it up to redline... VTEC set at 4500 <<<is this the reason why it kinda buggs down?

second question, if my timing is off, I already set up an appointment to get my ride dynoed, will my VAFC2 be able to change the timing? or I need a piggy back for this?

and yes, i read the basic boost guidlines... and I will read it again... like now! thanks for the input guys!

I wouldn't change the vtec settings at all. Leave them at the stock setting.

Normal driving isn't shifting from 1-2 at 5k.....i usually shift around 3 - 3.5k

You will not be able to change timing with the vafc....only the e-manage. Also, the vafc increases timing as is goes from vac to boost.

ow wow i didn't even know vafc increases timing... is that good? or bad? anyway, yeah i'll try to keep it below 4k RPM... thanks... i was just worried if i'm throwing a piston off or not...

the vafc does not increase any kind of timing, only a/f and vtec. If you have the vtec set that high, you are gonna have a flat spot between 2500rpms and 4500 (where yours is set). That's already been proven on a dyno. Leave the vtec stock and I bet your problem is solved, especially with turbo.

yeah, most turbo cars when boosting like to retard the timing, but when I tried that on the dyno the car fell on it's face and lost 25whp after retarding the timng 3 deg.

OW ****!!! for real??? damn... aight so i got my VTEC set at 4500RPM for our car's last time i check was VTEC is set at 3700 stock right? C-M-I-I-W...

of course when you retard timing you will lose power

actually i concur on what he said... coz i have my car buggs down on me in between those range, i just thought the ecu will compensate for it... and it comes and goes... or maybe i've been driving it for a while and i was just used to it...

^^^well there's no such option and or way to put it to [****] so i set it to 3700 and 3500 i think that's the stock setting right? it was on 4500 and 4300...

If you have the vafcII I promise you it does. That's the only way to get it stock. We're not sure on the engagement point, and it may actually vary depending on throttle position. Just play around with it and press different directions until the numbers become stars.

The **** is stock setting you can get there by turning it backwards. As gearbox said this will solve your problem and improve lower end power.

No there is a way to make the numbers disappear and turn into stars. Try pressing the little control thing to the right or something. There is a way, you just have to try different things in that menu.

i got it!!! yeeeyyy!!! thanks gear ... it is now back to stock **** by just pressing and holding the button to the right for about 3secs.. seems fine... but i don't feel the kick as much when it was at 4500 RPM

so if I'm running 6-7psi, will I need to retard the timing at all, or just leave it alone and make sure it doesn't run lean? I don't want to blow a hg or snap a rod......= bad, very bad....lol
