On the same system and boost level a turbo will make more power. The supercharger uses crank power to run. The turbo uses "wasted" energy to compress the air. This makes it more efficient.

I cant believe this wasnt locked right away.

Since everybody says "NO SUPERCHARGER FOR OUR CARS". But, yeah, there are none, unless you have a K series motor.

turbo will get you a good HP gain

Not necessarily, it also depends on the volume of air being pushed. If a supercharger and a turbo run at the same psi but the supercharger has 150 more cfm of air, it'll create more power.

Well, if there is 10psi of pressure in the intake area, with each, then you have the *same* quantity of air, given it's at the same temperature, which means you should get the same power, right? Correct me if I'm wrong, just tryin to use logic, I'm not claimin to know everything

Wrong. If a supercharger and turbocharger run at the same psi, they are moving the same amount of air.

At a set pressure level, on the same engine, a turbo and supercharger will flow the SAME amount of air. You don't "push" air through a motor. All a turbo does is increase the pressure in the manifold, which increases flow. The engine will move the same amount of air for a given pressure regardless of how it got there.

You won't make the same power, because the supercharger is using power derived directly from the crankshaft to compress air.

A turbo and a supercharger are basically compressors, so you can pressurized 2 differents volumes of air at the same psi. Think about it.

No. They compress air relative to the engine.

Now if you want to get technical, there are several diffent types of superchargers.

Positive displacment Roots Type:
Pros: Instant boost
Cons: Air inside a roots type is constantly compressed, expanded, and compressed over and over when the engine isn't running WOT. This heat soaks the intake manifold (if ceramic) and intake temp's can reach up to 100+ degrees. This particular supercharger is difficult to intercool.

Centrifical type: This type is basically followed the concept of a turbocharger. What would be the exhaust side, is ran off of the belt. The belt runs gears inside this supercharger, spooling up the compressor.
Pros: More compact, easier to intercool
Cons: Low boost at low RPMs. The faster the engine runs, the more boost this type creates. A centrifical supercharger pretty much feels like a larger engine.

If any of this is incorrect, plz correct me, thanx.
