AEM EMS Now Available
Mirage one quick question ..... The 30-1070 EMS will not allow the factory AC or temp guage to work. However when the 30-1030 EMS is released will there be a way of probably upgrading (whether it be hardware or software) the 30-1070 EMS so that these things could work? The reason I am asking is because if I purchase the
30-1070 EMS and then 1 year down the road the 30-1030 EMS is released then I would want that issue resolved. BTW thanks for having some faith in the D17. F*ck Hondata.

Also, you can use your factory A/C with the 1070, you just need to wire in a switch to the EMS. We think that's kind of ghetto so we are still doing the 1030. The EMS will also be able to see and display the engine temp, but it can't talk to the coolant gauge in the cluster so it doesnt show there. You can always make your check engine light come on if the engine gets too hot. You can do that without any wiring at all.

In regards to the EMS - I may invest in one of these versus dumping my car, if I can ever afford it. This would definitely sort out all my little annoyances with turboing a car that doesn't like to be turboed....
One thing's for sure - if the pricepoint is right, it WILL cut into hondata's buisness - which will be interesting. Hondata chose to limit themselves by ONLY working on the K20 - quite possibly the EMS will effect their buisness decisions enough to cause them to re-think their buisness model - and support other engines besides the K20.
It sure will be interesting to see what happens!

Just noticed something interesting on AEM's web site about the 1030 however, which is a little disappointing.
According to their engineer, JP:
You read that right - you still need to run your STOCK ECU in addition to the EMS.....Its an add-on, but not a full replacement.
That's sort of disappointing.
According to their engineer, JP:
30-1030
Advantage: Will run 01-up Honda Multiplex System which drives the Coolant Gauge and A/C Input Switch.
Disadvantage: Requires 2 ECUs to be run in the vehicle

IMHO, I would just get the 1070. The basemap supplied has the check engine light acting as an "idiot light" when the car gets too hot and a simple 2 wire switch can be hooked to the ECU and activate the A/C request line.
BTW, the 1070's started shipping today. They should trickle down to shops within a week or so.
