My CEL Light

Hey guys, most of you already know that I bought and installed the TSI extreme kit last summer. The car is in storage for the winter now, and for sale, but if it doesnt end up selling, I plan on doing some more stuff to the engine. Anywyas, if you are framiliar with the tsi kit at all, you will know that the kit comes with a pipe that replaces the cat. I now have a CEL light due to no catalic converter. Becuase I knew it was just becuase of the cat, i drove it for a couple hundred miles before I put it up for the winter, with the CEL light always on. This winter I was talking to guy that said becuase my CEL light was on, I was having power robbed?

Is this true, is the engine not running at full strength with the CEL light activated?

Also, what is the best thing I should do to get rid of the CEL

1. buy a high flow cat?
2. buy casper o2 simulator?

Thanks for the help guys!

Yes, in my only "Official" race i WALKED away from a 14.6 sec 00 Si running i/h/e and skunk2 cams. But no, i was not dyno tuned. I've done all the tuning myself on a narrowband sensor, and she runs like a champ.

Currently i'm investing in an innovative wideband sensor module so i can tune it better.

HyaBoosta will become famous soon enough
I have the same problem. My cat is gutted due to nitrous destroying the packing. But many people solve this problem by simply plugging the o2 bung and leave the sensor out and strap it up. Thats what I'll be doing this week. But as far as the cel robbing power, thats not true. If there was a problem with the primary o2 sensor then the ECU would go to open loop and you would loose a good deal of power but since it's a secondary the ecu simply makes all it's readings off the primary and continues on closed loop. So no probs, just a constant cel. But the danger in that is that being boosted you would want to know if somthing else in the engine malfunctions and causes another cel and you would have no clue if that happenes because the CEL is always on.
