E-manage running rough

so my friend and i installed my e-manage today just to get it installed so that is one less thing i have to do when i go to begin workin on the turbo and we got it all wired up, but it is running really rough. we followed madwheel's diy and did all the jumper settings inside the e-manage and we just inatlled the main harness for now just to get it running. we connected all the wires except the yellow and light blue ones for the e-manage since i dont have vtec and also the purple one for the e-manage since that is also for vtec. well, we started up the car and it went fine, except the RPMs kept jumping by like 200 or so. then i just went to take it out for a drive and i dont know if it was the fact that we ahve 3" of snow on the ground or what, but it was running terrible.

the car kept bogging out with it connect and it felt like it was funning really rich and kept stalling when you went into low rpm. i then pulled into a parking lot and unplugged it and it seemed to run fine except the rpms were really low, like 500-700 and the car seemed to be extra sensitive tot he clutch position as it had to be all the way down or it would stall. also, as i got it running with the e-manage right off it thread a CEL and the RPMs wouldnt go past 3500. anyone know what the problem is?

i didnt restet the ecu after the install, so that is gonna be the first thing i try tomorrow and hope it runs better. also, it is not tuned yet, i was just hoping it would run stock settings at first, but i guess not. any suggestions for how i should set it to just run it stock settings for now?

thanks for the help.

yeah i think..."I THINK" you have to reset the ecu..and u need to do some more tweaking with the support tool, besides jumpers...I guess its not so plug'n'play.

Ok. For starters, sounds like you connected a wire or 2 wrong.

If you connected the E-Manage properly, and you disconnect the harness with the car running, it will throw an immediate CEL, idle horrible then turn off. So I think you need to do some re-reading of those diagrams.

ill take some pictures, but i followed the diagram exactly like it said. one wire we had a question about was the purple one from the e-manage. it didnt say anything about vtec in madwheel's diy, but when we looked at thw wiring diagram, it was a vtec wire it connected to on the ecu plug, so we didnt connect it. is that possibly the problem?

I have an EX so I said that. The VTEC controller didn't work well for my so I ditched it anyway. You don't need the VTM wire for anything, you also don't need any of the VTEC wires hooked up of course. Just hook up the RPM, TPS, MAP In/Out, +12VDC, +12VDC Remote, GND. I think that's it. Set your Emange rotary settings for the VTEC setup, but when you go into the parameter settings on the support tool software, don't check off the VTEC box. Just use it to adjust fuel and you should be good to go.

Nah I think your going to need the support tool to set the vtec off. I think there was another emanage diy that was for the lx and not the ex. im not sure if it's different but you might want to check it out.I think that you can dwnload the support tool off the web but you need the greddy usb to serial connector.BTW your going to need another usb to serial adapter for your laptop, make sure you get the io gear one because no other one will work. it's really sensitive to that. I soent about 70 bucks in adaptors.
