Is this turbo too small?
i am beginning to lean towards a t3 .48 trim .48 a/r instead of the t3 super 60 .48 a/r. i dont really want a turbo that is gonna spool late like 3400+ like the super 60, and am beginning to think the 48 trim would be better. i am looking to boost 8 psi daily and maybe bump it up to 10 or 11 for the track and shoot for a goal of 200-215 whp. do you think this is possible with the 48 trim? what turbo would you guys suggest?
also, does anyone know exactly at what RPM the t3 super 60 spools up on the 7thgen?

bout 3200 to start spooling...
what kind of wastegate you plan on using? what type of boost controller?
my blitz sbc-spec s would get my t3/t04b to spool up pretty quick. so get a big exhaust, and good boost management and you'll be able to easily spool it at around 2500 or so

You make a good pont, but 2500 is super soon...you must have your B/C setup very gradual huh?? I know on my 2.4 I don't have full 12 psi until about 3200 and thats on a t3t04b, .60 comp/.63 turb

I dont think I can stress enough how much fun a big a/r BBt-28 would be on your car...on an sr20, at 16 pounds you're easily at 300 whp...and let me tell you how much fun MIDRANGE torque and power is...
Maybe it's just me, but i'd rather have strong powr from 2500 to 55/6000 rather than lag and a tad more pwer from 3500/ to 6000
The greddy T88 spools up fast! Get that one

Why waste your time...by the time you're spooled you'll be shifting...

The larger T3/T04E will make far more power at 8 psi than the BB T25. The flow rate is far greater on the T3/T04E/.
The T25 power band levels out at 4500 RPMS. It becomes very inefficient after that and just creates immense heat. BUT....this turbo might be nice for a daily driver just making the drive to and from work fun from stop sign to red lights.
The T3 Super 60 RIPS power from 3000 RPMS to and past redline. On my dyno sheets, @ the 6500 RPM mark, my power curve was still climbing without sign of any fall off. This turbo distributes power from 3500-6500 easily at 8 PSI, and is well within it compressor range. 8 PSI= PR of 1.5. Trace this line across, and you'll see your SMACK in the middle of the turbo's most efficient through a good 2/3 of the power band.

Edit: Not to mention, if you build the engine, it will get EVEN more efficient up to and including 20 PSI.

The super 60 is a nice lil turbo...I'm surprized more boosters in general don't use it...
You also hit the nail on the head about the daily driver aspect, I assumed that was what he was going for wit his kit
As for compression: Yea we're down aroudn 9.2/9.3 to 1, so not to much (good for boost tho :])...not to sound like a NewB, but what is the compresion of a standard d17 (i truthfully don't know)
