ECU for turbo?

Ok Hondata won't do it.
AEM is on the works, for a year now.
What about a stand alone ECU?
I'm looking at Micro Tech. but I'm open to any ideas.
I know it will take more tunning,
And what is the difference between AEM and a universal ecu?

AEM is a stand alone that is plug and play.

Micro Tech, Motech, Haltech all have to be hacked and spliced in like the E-Manage

Can AEM settings be changed?
Can stand alone easy to tune?
But than again if it was that easy why AEM is having a hard time with theirs?

haltech pretty much requires the removal of all stock wiring, and then re-running all the wires. Ive done it on a miata. It is hell to do, but fun afterwards.

If you have a choice, i would do plug and play just for its simplicity. But since that isnt an option right now......................

The version of the AEM EMS that people use with the K20s is supposed to work, but you have to hack-up the harnesses and I think you lose AC.

AEM also has a base standalone that can be used but it has very basic information loaded on it, nothing specific, all base maps and fuel/air maps have to be loaded and programmed. Lots of work but for someone who knew what they were doing, very beneficial engine management.

Yeah, AEM is suppose to have a system that works on almost any 4 cylinder, but you have to tune the entire RPM range from scratch, I think few people on this website could do that, I sure wouldn't want to, one mistake and your engine is gone....

It would take some research and time, that's for sure. A friend of mine is a master tuner with the aem and I'm sure we could tackle it together, just that he's about 1,000 miles away now. If I were still in colorado, I'd be doing alot of stuff. I heard about a guy in denver with a 7th gen that used a d16y8 intake manifold on his d17 head with some minor fabrication. It was done by a shop in Denver with one of the guys on my team. I heard it made some vast improvement in his airflow.

The AEM 30-1070 K series swap EMS will work on a 7th gen with a D17. However, you lose A/C functionality and the coolant gauge. No cutting/splicing of wires is required. The EMS still gets and displays the engine temp but the dash gauge does not work. It will be supplied with a startup map for the D17 that will have been tuned for a stock D17A2 but that should be used as a starting point for your tune, not the tune itself. If you wanted to have the A/C function then you must wire in a seperate A/C request switch to the EMS for it.

You have the ability to change everything. In addition to fuel/spark/VTEC control, It has a boost controller, programmable traction control, an internal data logger and a bunch of other stuff. Also, an optional internal UEGO AFR controller is available.

But I must warn you, and I'm very serious, this thing is not a toy. It is very powerfull and gives you total authority over your motor, up to and including the authority to blow it to ****! It will not stop you from doing something stupid like putting 40 degrees of advance at 15 psi boost or running at 16:1 AFR at WOT. It will simply do it, instantly, and you will be stuck with the smoking pile of junk that *you* created. In other words, it's a tool, and if you dont know how to use the tool then you will be very, very sorry. It is best left to someone who already knows what he is doing.

There are quite a few in beta testing now, I would expect them to be widely available in late January or early February.

No, if it were an official AEM response it would not includes phrases like "blow it to ****!", "smoking pile of junk that you created" and such, but the info and the warning is correct. I posted this based on knowledge I have but my presence on this board is not as a representative of AEM, it is as a 7thgen owner.
