my turbo story (auto)

heylo all

my turbo setup was totally a home made project and the car was an auto 2001 civic .
i used the turbo setup for 20 days. nothing much was done, it was all basic
with a T25 turbo , intercooler, BOV and AFCII with some boost gauges and internal wastegate setup till 6-7 PSI.
i was very much sick and tired by the comments of ppl saying tht the setup wasnt all tht good. so i dicided to take the turbo out.

now during tht 20 days, this is was happened to my car.
1) when the car was cold , it would throw out white/grey smoke.

after taking out the turbo , the smoke dissapeared automatically. any idea wat would had been the problem?

i had alook at the auto thread and would like to know wat is gear slipping??

right now , i am building up my turbo setup again these are a few things which i am gonna get for my new setup

1) T25 turbo ( same old one)
2) front mount intercooler
3) BOV ( old)
4) Forged pistons
5) Rsx injectors
6) Return line (i am actualy gonna takeout a return line from the stock fuel rail i hope this works :S )
7) Fmu
8) AFCII (old)
9) boost controller
10) new fuel pump

wat more should i get? again , i am planning on only 8-9 psi not more
plus , i am planning to add in a wet shot Nitro kit.

thanxs

p.s= i had no problems with my auto tranny but after taking out the setup , i had to change my inner axel which connects to the gear (thts wat i was told by my mechanic)

talk to gotti, his setup would be a good one to follow as well...

however nto being rude, if you're only going to boost 8-9 pounds after a built motor, why not just swap smethign worthwhile???

return fuel system shouldnt be a problem at all. if your gunna do pistons id sugest rods while your at it. When you say FMU, do you mean as in a vortech style ? no idea why you would need to change the axle .....shrug. Sounds like you have the basics

engine swap would b the last thing i would do.... to much work and plus it would avoid my insurance fmu (fuel pressure regulator)

one thing i wanted to know was if i get e-manage, will i b still needed a boost controller?

no i broguht it used.

well i did have some boost leak which i could not detect . but after opening up the header to replace with my stock one , i found tht the packing was all broken into pieces with some attached with the header and the rest dropped somewhere. mayb tht was the reason i wasnt getting full boost? well i would like to know wat material packing should i give this time?

questions

1) wat does gear slipping feel like?
2) how do i check the turbo for any broken seals?
3) wat packing should i use for the header ( engine block to the 4 header pipes, originally steel packing was used shall i use them for the turbo too? cause somone said it would not work cause of more temp.)
4) if i use e-manage do i need boost controller?

some ppl prefer f/i over n/a and knowing that he can run 8-9 psi safely is quite a good idea.

Boosting 8-9 provides more performance over a k20 swap *(waits for k20 swapped members to flame)*

the first time that you installed the turbo you did not have a fuel system. I say that the fuel pump and the injectors are a must and a great move the second time around. If you would have kept running without them even at 6 psi your rings would have not lasted very long
