what oil to use with a turbo??

what oil to use with a turbo??

im getting all kind of advce....
theyre telling menot to go with 5w20 syn or close..
they are telling me 10w40,20w40 should I.. im a bit confused!!

5w 30 or 10x 30 synthetic will be fine

Beofre a track event I use 10w50 oil

normal driving i use 10w30

5w 30 sythetic. same your using now. you just have to change it more often

I was using 5w 30 before I got my turbo on. After installation, I had some oil problems so I switched to 15w 40. However, later on I found out that it was actually the turbo that was faulty not the oil. But still I am using 15w 40. As a reference, I'll quote you these few lines from 'Maximum Boost' by Corky Bell:

"In general it is best to avoid wide-range, multiviscosity oils, as the materials added that create the multiviscosity capability are the same materials that cause the coking. Thus 20W-50 is clearly better turbo oil than 10W-50."

high viscocity might be better for the turbo but your engine is still reccomended 5w 20. a higher weight and viscosity can't be good for the oil pump
