question about spark plugs (not a noob thing)
hey, i have a question about spark plugs. i have a 50 shot nitrous kit installed in my hx cvt. i live in colorado springs 3 months out of the year (~7000ft) and in roswell, nm the rest (~3500ft). just to be safe when i got the kit i ordered a set of zex hyperformance plugs which i believe are two steps colder than stock. they ran great installed even in springs but after driving awhile and checking them i believe i have carbon deposits (they have a dark coating). are these too cold for the altitude? what heat range should i go with? would stock heat plugs be fine considering the altitude?
I just remembered that they have 3 electrodes which might make it hard to even check the gap on them. I dont usually trust the pre-gap. I'm used to always checking them. I use NGK's and the shorter I have the gap, the richer it burns, but it also runs rougher at idle. I think I have my gap set a little shorter than stock .040. I cant remember. I need to change them out right very soon anyway. Maybe you should try using a different plug. I've heard a couple of bad remarks regarding the zex plugs.

well, they are working fine, i doubt its the gap as carbon deposits are usually due too cold of a plug. i noticed after using the bottle a couple times that these deposits are being cleaned away which probably means they are just fine.
Whatever you say dude...mine are 2 step colder and they've never put any dark coating on my plugs. Just make sure you keep them changed often. Plugs dont last with nitrous regardless if they look ok or not.

you also live in tampa florida. last time i checked tampa was at sea level, but hey, what do i know? besides, i have heard very positive remarks from some members about the zex plugs and some negative ones about the ngk's so i guess its just personal experience.

ngk#7's (1 step colder) #7 are honda boost plugs, older hondas ran #5 oem while we run #6 #7 is what most shops have so thats what Im assuming that you have. Never run multi grounding electrode plugs of nitrous BIG NO NO...boost yes, nitrous no. ngks are rgeat, but with a 50 you could run stock plugs. I actually ran denso IK20's on my 50 then went the ngk 7's for my 75.

BKR7E to be exact, but you're wasting your time. He apparently already has everything figured out. He first post a thread about what a DIY bottle heater. Most people are telling him not to do it, but he wants to do it anyway.
Somethin tells me that hes gonna use the ZEX plugs anyway. Soon to be Mr. GST

wtf, of course i dont have a fuc*ing dry kit. Anyway, i installed the NGK's and i checked them after a few runs with no spray. Same deal. gapped them to stock specs and they also have carbon fouling everywhere except for the very tip which is more the normal color. Why dont you idiots quit talking smack while your at it and be a little more productive.

Of course you're going to have carbon everywhere except on the tip. Thats how its supposed to look, moron. Why dont you quit postin and go buy a real bottle heater instead of trying to rig up some makeshift sunbeam back warmer.

Just look at the title of this thread. It says (not a noob thing) Thats false advertisement. If you go back and read his other thread he posted http://www.7thgencivic.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=185797
He clearly states that he just recently purchased and installed his nitrous kit. The reason why hes creating threads is because he is requesting input and feedback and because he doesnt like what he is hearing, he is now acting like a know-it-all *****. Whatever dude.
