Emanage install help!
Emanage install help!
hey I know there is a FAQ on the install but i need more help then that can offer. I have a emenage that came off a greddy rsx kit. The main harness that comes with it has 11 wires coming off of it so after matching all the wires like the DIY that madwheel and dezod did I have 2 extra wires. an Orange and black with a red stripe. I hooked up the ground wire and the 12v wire to the ecu, shouldn't that be enough to have it communicate with the support tool(I know theres no data coming in but i mean the system should show it's online right?) and I have the usb to serial connector that the support tool came with but i have no serial port on my laptop so i connected a serial to usb connector to the end of the serial port on the original greddy wire. Is this the problem or did you guys use something else?
I know it's alot of questions but your imput is appreciated. especially if someone is brave enough to take pictures of how they wired their emenage and the cable they use for the support tool!!

"There have been some questions about using a USB-serial adapter on a
laptop that doesn't have serial ports to hook up the Greddy support
tool cable. The Belkin FSU-109 adapter has worked for some people, but
it didn't for one person - for them, the IOGear GUC232A worked
perfectly. Just make sure whatever adapter you get can be returned to
the store in case it doesn't work." -

The Belkin did not work for me either. I had to use the IOGear as well.
where would i find that?the adaptor light is coming on showing that there is a link. But i only have the 12v,ground and rpm wires connceted so far. Would the emanage still communicate if all the wires were not connceted?
