Frustrated...
Well, I've been thinking a lot lately and I HATE how slow my car is... I have had the intention of selling it for some time now. When looking at k20s on ebay, I got to thinking about a swap. What do you think i should do, i have about 7g saved up and my car is an 03 w/17k miles on it? How much would a k20a2 swap cost with labor? Should I sell, or engine swap?

SRT4 is designed to be fast.... swapping a k20 into a civic was not intended which MIGHT cause problems which of course depends on the install. all that hassle with the k20 swap and still be slower then a 22k dollar neon.
IMO, SRT4 for the money if you want a fast straight line car.

after 3 years it'll be worth about 8-10k depending on mileage which is **** like any other dodge resale value. but htis still doesnt change the fact that the car is fast.
the value of a k20 swapped civic after 3 years wont be jack either. people who are looking to buy a stock civic is 10k in your area..... people looking to buy a k20 civic in your area is 1. and there is no way that 1 person will pay you nearly as much to cover your expenses of a k20.
so with both cars you lose money.... but in the end the SRT4 will still smoke a k20 civic.
now if you plan to boost the k20 civic then its a different story. but now we're talking about some serious cash
trade it in on an 05 STi and put 6 g's down also...save 1g for insurance/reg. My friend has one and all i gotta say is holy shat. Holy fakkin shat!! That is an unbelievable car! 100x better than the 04 STi p.o.s.
Trade it....you can go with the mopar upgrades which retain warranty. I'm personally fed up with the poor quality of my civic. The front struts have gone 3 times on it now and there is low potential with it. Find a better platform.

I'd trade it in for an RSX Type-S Same engine you want =) Plus I just dont like neons, since they had a recall for some of the shift ***** falling off! lol

^^ Well no thats not true (about stock), but a modded type-s can. I've seen hondata #4 equipped rsx type-s's run with srt-4's. I've got nothing against the neons at all, I just don't like dodge, or american cars. Don't think I'm hating either b/c srt 4's are faster than me =)

Heh, well techincally added up it would be the same (less if you get nice *** exhaust) and it actually is fairly simple (piggybacked but is simple like vafc)

^^But you know what, I know the srt4 is damn fast, but I'd rather own an rsx cuz its fast and pretty luxurious... more so than my pos civic lol... poor vic =*( lol

and Honda does not last longer then dodge for exmaple.... any car can last forever its just that Honda will need a lot less repairs then a dodge will in the long run.... thats all. but both cars can last "forever"
the Smuggler.... i would also like to have the TypeS over an SRT4. i'm just poiting out that if you want power and dont spend 20-22k then the SRT4 is the fastest new car you can get.

I don't even think I would necessarily want a new car. I really like wrxs and the 05' STI. I might just end up waiting a year for a used 05' STI since the improvements they made this year were pretty huge.
I've thought a lot about the srt 4 but hate the idea of getting no resale value.

with 7 grand u can get used type s mtrs for like 2500-3000 and then spend the rest for the mounts ecu etc. U will be getting like 185-190 with basic mods -clubrsx.com and k20a2s have hella potential i suggest u do the swap

Hustle man I know I wasen't trying to be rude or anything =) SRT 4's are hella fast your right, but as we all know he needs to make his own decision. This is a personal prefernce thread, which really he needs to decide. IBTL because I feel it's useless.
with 7G's you could have a hell of a good time with turboing your car....but the warranties voided, etc. etc. but what other "fast" cars do you like if not the SRT4? wrx? evo? look into used cars maybe? mkiv supra? rx-7? ITR? gsr? theres a lot to chose from, just go on what you like
I've thought about turboing my D17 on more than one occassion, but it just doesnt seem worth it when you look at the whole picture. Cost+ Maintenance = 200-250whp? Nah, I say its not worth it. K series is a much better platform with more displacement and more torque and HP than the D17 which means it IS a better investment. Later on if you decide to turbo the K20 then by all means, go for it. Even as fast as SRT4's are, I still think with driving a swapped and potentially boosted civic, there is much more to appreciate. Also, you'll actually earn more respect than you would driving a lightly modded SRT4.
