Heres a short write-up from Super Street Mag about that TSI kit http://www.superstreetonline.com/plu...9_d17turbokit/
If I can insert my 2 cents.
Rule of life: You get what you pay for
As great as the TSI kit is for xxxx amount of money from various vendors, its quality is not that great. it uses at most a T28bb (i think) turbo which is decent. Quality of parts does not always mean what turbo it uses though. It seems that many of you judge the kit by "how much stuff comes with it".
Using an extra injector as a fuel supply is very unreliable, unsafe, and will never handle high power due to flow problems. It is just an easy fix. The piping metal quality may be very poor. Piping is generally mostly the same so its not that big of a deal but what kind of metal is used for the Exhaust housing? If its cheap metal, it will crack and you will end up buying a new manifold.
I beleive custom kits are priced higher for 2 reasons. 1 they are not mass produced and material cost is higher. 2. The materials used are more expensive and make the price go up. Build quality is very important as well. If you look at Dezod's kit, you can see good welds, good fitement etc. I dotn know how the TSI kit is but from what people have been posting, it does not seem the best.
For basic turbo needs, the TSI should be fine. Its nothing that promising and no one is pushing it hard yet. But I beleive when you take the xxxx amount of money saved on other kits and buy internals, your end result will not be the best.
Overall, it may be a great entry level turbo kit. Like I said, if you dont plan to do much with it, its an all in one package. Its for a consumer who doesnt want to fiddle with all the problems of building and wants something that can get him around faster.
Enjoy the kit to all who have it
