Exhaust piping on Turbo

I have a situation. I have a SF turbo that mates up with a stock Ex downpipe (b pipe going to cat). I bought the round doughnut gasket but the exhaust piping on the turbo wont seal when tightened down to the downpipe. I looked at the turbo piping and the hearder piping and the turbo piping doesnt have the same flange. What i mean is the metal ring isnt on the turbo as it is on the stock header. It will bolt up no problem but it wont seal therefore I will have a exhaust leak and one really annoying sounding car. Any ideas or solutions? We are trying a different doughnut to see if its thicker to fill the gap.....thanks.

that sounds wierd... is the gasket right side up? I bought the same gasket you're talking about when i installed my SF kit, and i have an ex downpipe/b pipe as well.. bolted up no problems, no exhaust leak

well we fixed the problem...used a gasket from a truck that was like solid lead and much larger than the stock EX gasket. It filled the void and sealed up nice. For some reason the piping I have isn't like the stock piping so it wouldnt tightly mate up...but we got it to work. We actually finished the install tonight all thats left is the boost gauge and wire on the fuel pump and then onto test runs. yea turbo job complete. Trimming the bumper took a while but we used black rubber door edging to clean up the edges we cut and it looks mint.

yeah i was thinking that... and i must say...

stock we usually run high 16s to low 17s...

we're running low boost with stock internals and shaving 3-4 secs off the quarter mile time, and im daily driving mine!!! make fun of the d17 all you want... but i think it responds better to boost than a lot of engines out there, I love my setup.

On another note, with a tuned ECU, and a turbo cam... mid 13s on stock internals is definately possible. how many 127hp (ex) eco-boxes do you know that can do that? This is why I like honda. My friend with a 97GSX with an Evo 16g turbo upgrade is thinking about ditching his car just so he can buy a 7thgen and boost it... I don't plan on getting rid of the civ for a while, looks good, comfy, and has potential to be fast...

ok done ranting lol

Just be careful that the gasket doesn't get blown out over time. I've seen people use larger exhaust gaskets to fill voids a few times and each one ends up having a leak 6 months later... So if you hear a ticking noise or exhaust leak in the future, that would be the place to start first.... Other than that, nice ingenuity (sp?)....
