got price for k20a swap, and manual conversion
went to a shop this weekend in chicago to get a price to swap in a k20a into my automatic ex. the price for ALL parts and labor needed was $7,500. i thought that was a pretty good price considering the engine alone is about $5,500 and they will have to install the pedal assembly, shifter assembly etc. to convert it to 6 speed. i should have this done by the end of the year if everything goes as planned. what do you guys think?
sounds good to me! engine swap and tranny swap? for 7500? go for it! ^_^
it usually costs bout 7 grand just to swap the engine. This is the JDM k20 right? i'm assuming that since you said k20a.

all you would need is a wrecked donor car and just pay for the labor. but that is a good *** price for a swap/tranny conversion.

and as for a wrecked donor car, have fun finding a wrecked Honda Integra, and then paying to have it shipped to this country, for under $7500. unless you find a wrecked RSX that did the swapp, it's not gonna happen.
i would get a signed contract for that $7500 price, it seems too good to be true.
Car means maintance. As long as you keep good care of your parts, you'll be fine. I know of some people that have a b18 swaped and turboed as a daily driver. They keep good care of their cars and the cars last a long time. A honda motor is reliable. Period.
I think so... Your auto tranny should be able to handle like 5-6 PSI which will allow your car to run well at around 170-180whp... with some mods, like a tranny cooler you could handle up to 8 which would put you near 200whp if tuned well... not too shabby for only about 4 grand invested vs at LEAST 8grand for a swap+manual conversion and still have less horsepower than the turbo...
Im An Auto running a turbo w/ a B&M Tranny Cooler. I am waiting for my BOV flange and Alcohol Injection should be here Wednesday. I will hit up the track Friday and let you all know what I run.

a motor swap is a lot closer to idiot proof than a turbo. but most people on forum love the turbo. so... turbo is def. more easily upgradable per $
i don't hear stories of people who did motor swaps blowing their motors up. but then again, d17's aren't that pricey. whatever knocks your rocks
