Project Boost
Hey guys i am custom piecing a turbo kit together hence the title, project boost. I just wanted to start this thread to keep any1 interested informed and maybe some1 could learn from this thread. also i did it so i can get responces to this project from you guys, and ideas on what to do, tips, things to stay away from, good products etc. specs on my car are as follows: 2002 honda civic EX auto tranny 10,000 miles. Here are the parts that have been bought thus far as well as the prices of them.
- 14B turbo
- 1g eclipse BOV
^^ i got both of those for $220, the turbo is in perfect condition (the reason i went with a smaller turbo is b/c it will spool up fast and i dont need a lot of boost since its an auto
), no shaft play at all. i got them from a guy i kno that has an eclipse. thats all i have bought thus far but expect updates soon.
so if any1 has suggestions then id be glad to hear them. plz dont flame! this thread was started to help ppl (including me) gain knowledge about building custom turbo kits. as well as a place i can go for help and keep it all in one thread.
also pics are coming soon of my car and the things i have bought.

***UPDATE***
i know its soon but my friend that is making my manifold and downpipe just gave me some sketches he drew for what my manifold is going to resemble. he drew these quick and its just a layout.
the turbo is going to be on top of the header, yes this is different and i dont think any1 has done it b4 but thats okay!
also the manifold is going to be equal length
here are the pics:

sounds good bro....... if you need any help, there are plenty of us here at 7thgen that will be willing to help you out.
btw, the turbo on top of mani won't work b/c there isn't much room there for clearance for the hood.........maybe you can prove me wrong

also your downpipe will be long and will have to wrap around the mani to get to the exhaust.........this is why nobody else has put the turbo on top. Good thinking though

T25 turbo is going to produce very quick spooling power, but will be at a loss for anything over 4500 RPMs in my assumption. The response may be very "jerky" and "jumpy" as well, which is very typical of smaller sized turbos. True you will have minimal lag, but the lag is worth-while because after the lag is gone is when the surge of power comes. BTW, what PSI on a regular basis are you planning on running? The turbo may very well be operating outside of it's efficiency range based upon your PSI useage and driving habits. As far as the manifold, the HKS manifold is a very easy deisgn. The iron used is very dense and will take some abuse before cracking. It by far, is not the best manifold design for our car. The second manifold design is far more feasible than the first due to space confinements of our motor bay.
