higher compression?
I was wondering what having higher compression would involve. The ported head I got is milled 1mm, so the compression is definately gonna be higher.
So what are some of the problems I would need to solve. Some things I thought of so far:
--need cam gear, because cam timing will be off
--higher octane gas?
--will regular plugs work, or do you need a hotter/colder plug?
Anything else I should be worried about please tell. Thanks.

i think your supposed to use colder plugs with nitrous and turbo and any other high horsepower engines...because i think they work better with more intake of air and fuel.
you will definately need higher octane gas, to keep the engine from knocking.

Does anyone else know? I'm thinking of switching to regular 87 instead of 89. What would I listen for or look at to make sure everything still runs okay? I think my compression is around 160-180psi instead of stock 130. Is that low enough to still run 87??
are you using a stock head gasket? you should probably be putting higher octane in anyway. you can use 93 all the way to 11.8 to 1 comp.. But you're no where near that! if using 87, you should retard ur timing because of the knock sensor...but one question, WHY would you run low octane with higher compression?!?!? you spent all that money on that head and you want to put poo in it....

just get the cam gear and adjust it. If you don't hear any clicking under acceleration 87 is ok for everyday. but run 89 or 91 to get some better performance.

Cool I'll stick with 89 then. The cam gear is on order (5 bolt this time), and will prolly be advancing the timing since milled head already retards it. It's all getting tuned soon tho. Thanks for the posts.
