Shattered my intake manifold with spray
Last night, me and some friends were going to meet someone else for some mega, hardcore street racing action. I was suppose to run an MSP running 10 pounds of boost, everyone thought I should beat him, but we never got around to that race. Right after getting on the highway, my friend in a boosted Miata downshifted so I figured wed play for a second. Long story short, I wasnt paying attention to what I was doing and sprayed at loooooooow RPMs... KABOOOOOOOOOM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (Fireball). Sounded like a shotgun going off and fire spurtted from under my car. We all pulled over and I litterally blew my intake manifold off into several pieces. Im hoping thats all that happened, Im about to tow it to my shop shortly. Ive got some video footage of us standing around taking chunks of the IM out, if anyone is interested in seeing it, post up and Ill post it later when I get home. All in all is was a pretty good times believe it or not, good for plenty of laughs, especially when I said "I blew the welds on the intake!"

i thinking about how ironic it was myself. it was a matter of not paying attention and being an all around asshat. on a plus note, i had the car compression tested, everything was fine across all cylinders, as long as a rod didnt get bent, i should be spraying again in a week.

haha, sorry guys ive been busy as always. i was kinda looking at my friend in the miata when it happened, hence me f-ing my stuff up, but i think it was around 3300ish IN 3RD GEAR! lol, it was stupid, but funny. should have the car back by Friday, and then ill be back out racing again. ill probably be ordering the SF kit in the next couple of weeks. ive become a boostaholic, i must have it.
3,300 shouldve been fine. NX just says to not spray under 2,000 rpm. How fast were you traveling at while in 3rd gear? Where is your nozzle mounted at on the intake tube? My friend blew his throttle body by a back fire like that but it was caused by something completely stupid on his part. Anyway, I'm sorry that happened to you, but it just doesnt seem to make sense to me why it happened in your case.
