Big Turbo

i was thinking, what would happen if u put a turbo that is too big for an engine. example if u boost 15psi on a d17, what would happen?

well 15 psi isn't related to turbo size at all... so ignore that...

anyway, the bigger u go, the more power, to a certain extent...

a larger turbo also takes longer to spool up, so take into consideration what kind of driving u plan on using it most for. the best setup i feel is a t3 super 60. anything smaller may limit u if u start building, bigger is better but only if u want to sacrafice some lag...

ask if u need more...

tdiddy is an unknown quantity at this point
The exhaust probably wont be able to spin it. Or you would have major turbo lag.

oh the exhaust spin explains it. but what i am trying to get at is, doesnt a bigger turbo mean air that is more compressed? and is there something as air being too compressed for an engine.

Please excuse my ingorance and noobness

It's ok...

I bigger turbo means more CFM for the same psi. A smaller T25 can produce 15psi just like a T3 at 15psi.... The T3 will make more power because at that compression, more CFM is still flowing into the engine.

cubic feet per minute... a bigger turbo has a larger cfm than a smaller turbo at the same psi, which is why they generate more power

CFM has a small amount to do with it...

It's about volumetric efficiency. Bigger is not always better. The turbine's design will dictate the efficieny at a certain psi...
