Question Evo 8 turbo

My friend's dad got a new turbo fo his evo and said that he could have it.
heres my question.
Would it be better to sell the turbo and just by a maxrev or sf kit or, would it be better to get a kit custom built around the evo turbo?

I dont fully understand your question. But of you have a free turbo, its gonna take time to build a custome kit. If you bought a maxrev or sf kit it might cost a little more but you would save youself alot of time for peicing and installing misc parts. It just depends on how much time verses money you wanna spend, custome is the cheapest way to go. I think there are some members here who peiced their kit together for 2000 dollars.

^^ I agree on the building your own kit comment.

Does anyone know what size the stock turbo is on an Evo8? From what it sounds like the offer is to give you the stock turbo because the owner of the evo has upgraded....am i right?

The turbo is going to my friend. He has an 02 ex. if i remember right the evo has a twin scroll turbo that spins in the opposite direction of regular turbos but im not shure. But from what ive heard it has a quick spool up and can produce more than enough power for our cars.

Well I'm not exactly sure what that would look like to be honest, i.e. size. I don't see how you couldn't use it as long as it FITS and you have the right flange to get it on a manifold.

Is it internally wastegated?

Heh, I was just at their web site - it says its a twin scroll turbine - A twin scroll turbo is just a standard turbo that as dual exhaust inlets vs 1. Its supposed to spool up faster. Not sure of the physical size tho....
