T04/E turbo?

T04/E turbo?

i searched but didnt really understand what i found . what exactly is a T04/E turbo, what is the differance between it and others and will it even work for our cars? basically i am just curious about it and would appreciate any and all info you can give me. if you know something about it then please post it.

the T04E is the compressor end. It's used with hybrids like T3/T04E, T4, etc etc.

It's significantly different than the t3 and T04B compressors in size and such. I wouldn't go any bigger than a T3/T04B. If you learn how to use compressor maps, you can look it up for the differences. But basically, depending on the build, T3's and T04B compressors on our engines put us in and around the 70% efficiency range. The T04E is lower based on our engines. I haven't seen the T25 compressor maps, but I'm assuming they would be a bit higher. 70% efficiency is the target range for choosing a turbo (there's a lot more, but I'm not going into that). Outside of that range though...the effects are different. One way is compressor surge nad a hotter chargte, the other is more lag but a cooler charge (provided the IC is the same). Bottom line though, I wouldn't choose a T04E, it wouldn't be a proper match. I'm uncertain of whether it will fit without switching to a thinner fan profile. My T04B is snug against the engine block, and part of the fan shroud had to be shaved still.

BTW....that thing i posted about garret turbos.....it has alotta info. someone should make that a sticky. I posted it in some guy who posted "what kind of turbo" or somethin of the like.
