Spooling Question

Well, I'm not very knowledgable about forced induction, and I came across two questions today:

A) Using the SF kit, at approximately what rpm does the turbo begin to spool?

B) What causes a turbo to spool at different rpm's on different cars? Is it just that each car releases a different amount of exhaust at hte same rpm?

Thanks in advance.

Hard to say when it starts spooling but my profec reads positive boost at around 3k. It also depends on how you get on it because you will build boost at a different rate.If you have an EBC like I do you will also see different results based on the settings of the unit.

it also depends on the turbo itself. The fins are mounted on a shaft. The shaft has weight to it and and the bigger the turbo the bigger the fins/shaft. It's like rolling a tire....it is hard at first, but once it gets moving it gets easier and faster to turn. When applying throttle sometimes the car will seem gutless then all of the sudden it is picking up, this is known as lag....b/c the turbo is starting to spool and is gaining momentum. The smaller the turbo, the less lag. Lag can be decreased by using a small shot of n2o.

Why do i keep rattling on? I'm tired

Hehe. Thanks, guys. I know what turbo lag is, but I was just wondering what caused it. Makes sense, actually. A lot of things do once you put your brain into the equation.
