if i got an si k20 and a greddy turbo, how much more powerful would it be compaired to putting a really nice turbo with all the upgrades on a d17..... and spending about the same on both...

You will make more power with the D17. Thats assuming that you will add upgrades. Go to ephatch.com and look up some of the dynos on the greddy kit. I have seen the dyno on the SI with the greddy kit non-intercooler and it made 180whp at 6psi. I think with an intercooler kit it should make 230whp at 8psi. Just look at Catalyst's car. On 5.5psi with the DH head he made 190whp at like 5500rpm. If he took it all the way to redline I bet be would have made over 200whp.

You have to realize though that the swap is not cheap. swap+boost=$8K or more. With that much money you could just about build your D17 and boost it. Being able to run high boost and make tons of power. IMO

dollar for dollar, the d17 will be faster

mod for mod, the k20 will be faster, until you get built to the point where it's essentially an entirely new engine anyway.

I would build the engine up before the turbo so you dont have to worry as much if you want to up the boost. If you put the same money into modding your d17 and turboing it as putting in a stock k20 and turboing it you will make alot more power with the d17. for the k20 you could port and polish, sleeve the block, fully built bottom end and beef the tranny for the same amount.

i may not have read that correctly but u will spend less building the d17 and turboing it than u would a k20 building and turboing it, why bc u dont have the k20 yet, that will cost some loot right there, but no one has sleeved a d17 to know what the outcome will be, so all we have is a fully built k20, so i dont know

i would get the darton MID, that way if something feakish goes wrong u can pull the sleeve out and drop a new one in
