Does anybody understands this better than I do?
or have any suggestions? To me, it seems like they're both GREAT UPGRADES but if someone had this installed on their ride please let me know how this products perform, is it even worth the bucks? or these are just one of those upgrades that won't do jackshit on my ride!
, I would really appreciate any suggestions!
V-AFC (VTEC Air Fuel Controller)
A'PEXi introduces the first digital fuel computer that combines fuel computer functions with a VTEC engagement controller. The V-AFC features a user-definable, eight-point, adjustable fuel curve that can be set in 500 RPM increments. The range of fuel adjustment is +/- 50% at each of the user-defined setting points. The Fuel Adjustment function considers wide/narrow throttle and low/high camshaft settings, from which four different fuel maps are created (wide-low, wide-high, narrow-low, narrow-high). The integrated VTEC Controller adjusts the point at which the engine switches from the Lo to Hi cam during acceleration, as well as when the engine switches from the Hi to Lo cam during deceleration. Due to the complexity of this product, A'PEXi recommends having the V-AFC and other A'PEXi electronics installed and tuned by authorized A'PEXi Power
VS.
Super AVC Type-R
The AVC-R is the premium closed-loop electronic boost controller on the market. The AVC-R allows flexible control over virtually every aspect of boost control and adds new innovative functions such as injector pulse monitoring and gear specific boost control. Some key functions include: RPM-based boost and solenoid duty cycle control, scramble boost, self learning mode2D ghost map trace mode, analog display mode, real time replay and peak hold data modes. The AVC-R utilizes an ultra-fast microprocessor and a high quality solenoid valve to control boost. The result is ultra-fast response and accurate, stable boost control. Due to the complexity of this product, A'PEXi recommends having the V-AFC and other A'PEXi electronics installed and tuned by authorized A'PEXi Power Excel Shops.

boosting then I would get a hondata ecu. this will let you do ignition timing and stuff like that.
vafc2, if your car has vtec then this is cool but depends what is done to your car.
safc2, non-vtec non-boosted this is a decent choice for cheap thrills, gains are ok but would be better spent on an s100 or s200b hondata ecu.

I have the VAFC II installed and had it dyno tuned...it's the best part i put on my car...I even had a crappy intake manifold when it was tuned and I still noticed a good gain. Search for my dyno...As for the post above

first of all, you gave the specs on the AVC-R which is a electronic boost contoller. Secondly, do you have a EX? If not, then the VAFC-II is worthless. Thirdly fergy016.......There is no Hondata for our cars.
If you install either one of these, u will need to get it dyno tuned to get maximum performance from it. This will run you about $150.

really, i feel stupid... so hondata doesn't work with the d series engine. well then I would stick with apexi if you can't have that. my bad for mis-information.
safc is just like the vafc just without vtec control.
(vafc is only to be used on vehicles with vtec)
all they really do is adjust the fuel curve at certain rpms to improve performance. vtec engagement can be changed to improve the power curve.
It is a great tuning tool but i suggest taking it to the dyno to be tuned. I have heard it is good to use this with adjustable cam gears, but to each there own.
again i am sorry about the mis-information, guess I am the local fool.
modacar.com where they state hondata for the civic

Yeah, I wasn't making fun of you...As far as the cam gear is concerned, it didn't do anything at all when we tried dyno tuning with the VAFC II. maybe if we had an aftermarket cam, it my give different results.
I agree with that completely. I just installed my vafc2 today. kinda cool having the heads up display of misc data. The only reason i didn't go with the hondata is my engine is pretty much stock except for bolt ons and i got it for a really good price. I have skunk2 cam gears just waiting to be installed since i haven't had to replace my timing belt yet. There are some modifications that i will wait till the stock part wears out before i go it to change it out.

there is a goupbuy on www.honda-tech.com for $305 shipped to the 50 states for the apexi vafc2
If V-AFC II and S-AFC II prices not much different, will it be possible to install V-AFC II in non VTEC engine? Just in case later on I upgrade to VTEC engine. Will the air-fuel controller on V-AFC II works even the VTEC controller feature is not connected?
Thanks.
Thanks.
