which engine?
which engine?
ok, i searched and couldn't find the info, so telling me to search is fruitless.
with tax return season rapidly approaching i'll be getting money back. i have a 95 civic sedan, and would like to increase my hp. i was looking around and realised that my engine sucks at around 105 stock. i don't believe there's even a bolt on turbo made for my engine. i was thinking about putting in a h22, but from the searches, people were talking about the k20. i looked up some prices on the k20 and the price looks a little high(like $3000), considering it's like 60 hp max more stock than the h22. what i was wondering was what engine i should drop in? i'm not looking to be super drag dude, i'd just like to have more power than i do right now. my max range is probably around 1000 on the engine, and i'm not above getting a used engine. i plan on getting a couple friends to help install it, so labor fees probably won't be a problem. thanks in advance for not flaming the newb, guys

H22 isn't a bad idea to go with. You could also do a b20/vtec swap. b20 motors are relatively inexpensive compared to a gsr or a b16, there's not a high demand for that motor. As far as which head to go with on the b20, the b16 is a better head to go with.

I happen to know a very good street car setup.......
Get an F23 vtec motor and turbo it. On a modest 7 psi you can be running 13's. The F23 is a rather cheap engine, and is easy to get. It holds up well to boost, and makes all kinds of torque.

ahh..... i didnt notice that.
In that case, swap a SOHC ZC into it then turbo it. If you do a non intercooled setup and get all used parts, you can do it and run at about 160-175 whp daily. If you happen do get an intercooler, i made 215 whp daily on mine.

ok cool.sounds like it's a b-series engine then.i went to a local junkyard and searched around. they didn't have anything worth considering. all the civic, crx, accord, integra, and preludes had either been raped for parts or been in a front end collision, or a combination of the two. i guess buying online is my only option then. could u guys recomend a site for me to acquire ones of these said b-series engines...preferably with a manual tranny included? i've looked around a bit, but i don't really know what a fair price for an engine would be. please remember that i won't mind purchasing a used engine.

first off, dont get a prelude motor. H22 motors in civics are only good for going straight. A guy at a shop I was at put a prelude type s in a hatchback and said that he really doesnt like it because he said it is only good for going straight. Basically you wont be able to do a engine swap for 1k, unless you want to put in a toyota tercel engine from a 1980 model. Use that 1k and save up some extra money and do a custom turbo setup. That would be your best bet.

i know somebody that has a boosted H22 in a saturn sl2......but anywayz........i honestly believe that u will have trouble doing a swap for under $1,000. If you do buy a used motor, who knows how many miles are on it or how well it was maintained.

H22 IS A CIVIC IS A BEAST. Boost atleast 11 PSI on stock internals and run low 13s or high 12s on 1/4 mile.
Or
Swap an ITR non-vtec motor and boost. Either way excellent set-ups.

You can find full b20 long blocks for 500 and up. Then you have whatever a b16 head would run you and any additional parts but you should be able to get out the door for pretty cheap.
