Well folks - this just sucks. I bought a Weapon R catch can, which itself is pretty nice looking. But, after doing some reading, and digging into the theory behind these, its almost pretty much useless.
Take a look inside:

Yeah, its pretty empty. What is wrong you ask? Well, there are no baffles installed to catch the oil / moisture from the crankcase vapors. They pretty much just go into the can, and out the other side. Sure, larger oil particles will get caught in the can, but a lot of the crap that comes out of the engine will still get sucked into the turbo, intercooler, etc, which = bad.
I've posted at HT to see if anyone else has had this problem - I've read a few things about stuffing it with stainless steel wool, or brillo pads, etc. Pretty much anything for moisture and oil to adhere to (that won't get loose and get sucked into the intake pipe).
So.........For those of you with catch cans, this would probably be a good thing to check into (if your can has baffles or not).....

where does that get hooked up exactly? No offense, weapon-r isn't known for their quality, but you're still buying smart mods none the less....

Yeah... that is useless. You might as well just connect the crankcase breather to the intake tube, because it's the same effect as that catch can.
The GReddy works well, if pricey, and you can build one yourself, there have been a few people on Honda-Tech that have done this very cheaply, I think a few of them will make and sell their units as well.
Just use a breather filter that's open to air... cheap, easy, and it works. Maybe not as well as a catch can, but well enough to not hurt anything for a very long time. Catch cans seem to be overkill on many motors, unless you have a serious amount of crankcase pressure and blown around particles. I had a borrowed one installed on my car for two months, barely caught a thing, so I sold it, because that $150 was needed for suspension upgrades. Just some food for thought before you spend a lot of money on another catch can.

Actually - the catch can gets hooked up to the PCV valve, the valve cover gets the filter installed.
In any case, it really doesn't matter WHAT brand of catch can you use (they all do the same thing), just that it actually works. Almost ALL of them on the market do not have anything inside (I've checked). Granted they will still catch oil, but like I said, the vapors still have lots of **** in them.
There have been some replies on HT (some rather good ones actually) - suggestions of using those white bath poofs (that women use in the shower), loofah sponges, etc - which are all good ideas since they wouldn't break off and get sucked into the engine.....
