I spoke to mike <stafford> about that, and he says in the future he wants to make it legal but right now it just cost to much. It's like 2000 to make a kit legal. And if you don't pass, you have to pay another 2000 each time you try. But hopefully soon, because I only have 2 years left to make mine legal.
i believe SF would have to supply the car w/turbo..the CARB guys take it and run tests and ****...
anyways ..i thought it was more than 2000 bucks...allways heard it was expensive and 2000 aint expensive

I would help out with getting an exemtion...the CAL/EPA is not far from me
If Stafford was serious, he'd go start the process now, but instead he keeps saying that everyone else needs to pay for it for him. How about a lesson in economics. It takes money to make money. As for those that don't like Stafford for his attitude, we live in a capitolist state, so go build a better mouse-trap and get CARB certification and you'll have more sales.
I for one, would hand hold the process for Mike in exchange for something of equal value to a fraction of my time. I'm sure he can bump the price a bit and cover his costs.

I bet the extreme kits will be C.A.R.B exempt, before SF will...actually at this point I believe that SF will dump the civic market and capitolize on the K20 Series engines.
I know people with smog liscneces that could test the emissions to see if it is within the standard. This could be done for free if you know that person,
but if you are a company like SF and most likely have a R & D car, its only about 36 bucks to see if your car will pass emissions...If you shake hands with the mom and pop smog stations with a bengamin in your hand they will help you tune your car to reduce the emissions and tell you what possible changes might need to be done to reduce the emissions.
SF doesn't realize how much more CA customers they would have if this was C.A.R.B. exempt, or at least if they made the header C.A.R.B. exempt they would have too many sales....I believe they cannot produce that many if they have high demand.
At one time everyone was waiting for kits to be shipped to them and some members recieved sloppy work from SF where there were pinholes in the manifold, and the turbo would have a gap and not seat correctly to the turbo.

Yeah, what a terrible problem to have, too many customers. Geez, people complaina bout all kinds of stuff, but I don't want to hear anyone complain about being too busy. Those are the easy problems to solve.
On a side note, when you tell people to search and they do, and bring up an old forum, don't get on their case about actually using the search button.
