I would like to have a K20 because the engine has alot more potential to be built up than our D17. Yet turbo is cheaper and produces nice numbers. To get a K20 swap I would pay around $5,500. To get boost I would pay around $3,600. That's almost 2000 difference.

After saying that I would probobly get boost. I don't do any drag strip racing or very aggressive street driving. For some street racing SF Rules the street

I would like to go K20 with boost, but that won't happen for a long time. So i'll probably just boost my D17.

K20A2 swap.
Far more potential, far better platform to work with. Yea, its more expensive, but a good lesson that i learned the hard way with modifying cars is...you pay for what you get.
Spend the extra cash, and get the swap...you will be more happy. (plus you get a 6-speed :-) )

Turbo. It's so much more cost effective to build a d17. That's why I got my civic in the first place.

Turbo. (Notice all the turbo owners saying to get a turbo? This should show you that we have no regrets!)

Well anything is better than a stock d17 (almost.) Let's see who wins in a race, a civic with a k20a2 swap or a civic with a boosted d17, no question. And a turbo costs about 3-5k less. Think of what you could do with a d17 with that extra 3-5k. You would be in the 12's easy.

D17 turbo, because blown D17's don't cost 3500 to replace.

well if money were no problem I think most would go with the K20 swap or some sort of modified K24 then a turbo. Then again if money wasn't an option we would all be driving Porsche's or something. But as we're all on budgets I think that the turbo would be a better bang for the buck. After a turbo, internals are now out to aid in more boost for the D17.

maybe he wants to stay legal...but that might not be the case for him, i dont know the SMOG rules for Texas. I just know that was the base around my decision to go with the K20A2 rather than the K20A.

the motor has not yet been produced in the states...just like a SR20DET motor into a 240sx. The only way to pass with that motor in your car is naughty smog.
