turbo!
turbo!
hey, i have a 03 EX automatic, can someone list exactly waht i need to get if i'm going to get a turbo? for instance, do i need a catback? and i what order is hould get them? further more, what is and from where is the best turbo? also, how much horsepower and what times will i run if i get a turbo! lastly, after u turbocharge, can't u still modify your engine? like get cams and pistons? how fast can u make a 7thgencivic and still use it for daily driving? thanks
First of all, you're running automatic... You loose major performance right there, so before you even think of doing a turbo, I'd sugguest you think about doing a manual swap. However, if you do want to get a turbo for it, you most certainly can. Remember, turbos run off of your exhaust gas, so getting a performance exhaust is strongly recommended. Something like a 3" pipe is perfect for turbos. You can modify your engine after you get your turbo though, so you don't need to get everything before. Also, a good clutch is sugguested, something like a ACT clutch will work nicely. You need the clutch because the stock one can not handle that much of a hp increase over the stock amount. Most street turbo kits will come with the ECU, manifold, BOV, and hoses. So you CAN get just the turbo, however, if you want to get the most power out of the turbo, I'd sugguest you get the exhaust, larger intercooer, and so on. As far as how much hoursepower you produce all depends on which turbo you get, what boost you run it at, and what other mods you have done to the engine. If you plan on running high boost, you have to be careful of your compression ratio, because it will cause detonation. Also, high boost engines require you to chance the pistons, cams, fuel rails, and injectors. Wether you will be able to use this for daily driving all depends apon where you live. You can't use it for daily driving if you don't pass inspection. =)
is it possible to get our engine over 300 hp and still be able to daily drive in it without it blowing up? can u even blow up a engine with a automatic? as long as u don't run the boost too high and race all the time? i did use the search buddton! it said i need a transy cooler, oil cooler, and something else? i forgot, but i wnated someone to tell me exactly what i need to get. and is the SF turbo the only turbo that is good for our cars? and where can i get that from?
