I have a 2k1 ex 5sp
Thanks

honestly when future says he's worked on this and that, who is he kidding? certainly not me, or else he would know better. the only job he would have if he worked on swaps and all would be as a damn wrench boy.
hey future, hand me that 10mm socket will you?

LOL hey buddy futerrsxswap knows his ****. And for a sohc 1.7 liter motor civic that weighs 2500 pounds and runs a 17 1/4 sock and is now down to a 13.80 with 19s on is impressive. I have a wrx too and to take 3.3 seconds off our 1/2 will cost a little more than 2.5 grand. Lets face it a utec alone is 850 bucks, and a nice fuel/engine manegment system is essencial to our cars. Yeah its easy to get our cars fast, i have a vf34 sitting right next to me that we are putting in this weekend, yes we as in futerrsxswap and i, wow imagine that he can work on subarus too, he must be one hell of a wrench boy. but back to my main point, he is pulling a 13.80 on a sohc 1.7 liter starting out as a 17 second car. We are starting out with a 2.0 liter boxer engine that as you claim can run a 14.1 stock with an accomplished driver. Now to take 3.3 seconds off our stock 1/4 with only 2.5 grand and still have it as reliable as stock? Nah not going to happen.

Lets see what i have and prices:
vf34 -750 dollars
sti injectors- 350 dollars
walbro fuel pump- 100 dollars
Can i just put these in and run 12's? Nah i wish.... Now in order to make these work and get the power i need , i also had to get:
Blitz front mount intercooler-900 dollars
New spark plugs- 60 bucks
Vishnu unichip (poor mans utec) -550 dollars
kakimoto exhaust- 1000 dollars
TXS uppipe- 150 dollars
Hmm i belive i went over my limit awhile ago... and i still want to get a header to help spool that ball bearing turbo up even faster, and wrap for my exhaust components.

YES it you can make a wrx have over 500 wheel ponies no problem but not without a built engine and alot of work and a new turbo. Anyone thats pushing over 300 usually has either a built sti block or a built legacy 22b block. Your making it sound like we can just bolt on the parts and go.
all this arguing, what I think is going on is that futurersxswap is stating a point that for less money you can make a civic reliable and perform much better than a WRX with the same amount of cash. The WRX will not get much more performance (from stock) for $3 or $4k. yes I have a WRX and a civic. The Suby is way quicker but if I dump another 3-4k into the civic it will be faster than the WRX. On the other hand if I put $4k into the WRX and another into the Civic the performance from stock D17 will gain much more hp than the WRX. Enough that it will actually out perform the WRX, not the 0-60 but in the 1/4 mi. (the Civic will always be lighter as well)
One last thing about insurance you're nuts. A WRX being less than a civic ya right. I know the sedan verses coupe and all, but owning both. Come on the WRX is about a grand more per year on insurance.

and dont tell me about reliability when youre talking about turboing a car originally not designed for turbo. i still give that engine 30k miles until it explodes.
i pay 3.5k / yr w/ geico, 5.5k w/ statefarm when i had the civic.

although its quite easy to see that a civic, which ends up in far more crashes than a wrx (based on age of driver, etc) has a much higher insurance rate.

Excuse me? Melting..... haha. Thats funny.
I have had 7 turbo kits for hondas. I am building one for my corvette, and i currently build turbo kits for a living. I work for a man who has been doing custom turbo kits for 7 years. I think i can tell whats going on inside my engine. In fact, the only reason i have guages is for the looks. I dont need guages. I can tell if the car is running too rich, too lean, to little boost, too much boost, and i can tell if it is detonating. All without guages.
Guages are for 3 types of people....
#1. People who dont know what every aspect of their engine feels like (aka people who dont do this for a living)
#2. People who have extremely modified engines.
#3. looks.

We all are on this website to support each other in their rides and offer advice, not to argue who knows more or who is faster or to flame each other. This is why i am contemplating on leaving this site, cuz nobody supports each other. Whenever someone post a pic of their car, everyone jumps in and say "it's rice" or "i don't like it". Just bite ur tongue and say, good job. Who cares what u think, i know i don't. This flamming and arguing **** has to stop. Everyone acts like a bunch of ****in babies. We all drive civics on here, so let's help each other out and offer advice instead of an argument.

^^ I sorta like the arguing...it can be funny. Also I have learned alot from people busting out the technical workings of somthing to prove they are right. The name calling is childish usually. But a good heated debate over how something works can be very informative. At least in my opinion.

^^^^I agree with u bout learning from ppl that bust out the facts, and the name calling **** is stupid. But what about when ppl post pics of their cars, and ppl gotta throw out dumb comments about "it's rice" or "it's gay", that is ignorant. To each is their own, that is what they want and they got it. Who are u to judge what somebody else likes. U are not god and u do not have all the answers. See what i am getting at. ppl only like what they think is good and don't give ppl credit for a job well done if they dont' like it. Complete disrespect !!!
