... no you won't need a new engine, but you'll be buying a crap load of parts though

Here are the parts needed for the tranny conv. listed by bgoetz:
these are the parts anyone you says different does not know ****
1.)everything listed above -ECU (PM me to find out how to make your ECU work)
2.)master/slave cyl.
3.)clutch/ flywheel
4.)shifer cables (buy new)
5.)axles(yep they are different)
6.)tranny side mount, and front engine mount
7.)new subframe, our have someone move the front mount bracket 1 1/8 inch to the right if you are facing the car
8.) manual tranny starter
9.) misc. nuts and bolts
10.) new guage cluster or paint old one
11.) A LOT OF BEER
*** I would also recomend a helms manual (not just recomend it is the most important thing you could buy) and alot of borrowed tools from autozone

my a/t tranny fvckin' died on me about a month or two ago, and yes i have already looked into the conversion. the a/t i bought for my 02 civic ex was $280 (+shipping was $380). i got it from EM2typeflex on this forum. good seller btw

anyways, if you do plan on going with the conversion .. you're looking to spend about more than a grand or just hope you can find a good deal on an a/t like i did

check all the threads... theyre about manual tranny conv.
