just a stupid question
just a stupid question
why is that every single srt4 i see out driving around and comes my way tries to race me? does anyone else get this? just seems stupid to me that everyone of them tries to race me like this car is fast and you can always tell because they almost always rev up to the blow off valve as they pass you.

I bet all these guys trying to race us think that we think our cars are fast.. lol they have know idea that we know... which is stupid... of course we know... we drive the car every damn day. I don't know if I am explaining how I feel about this well enough and might have just made myself look stupid.. ha ha

about 20 minutes ago i was heading home from a friend's house, running about 65 on a 3-lane highway...i was in the center lane, with a black pre-'99 Cobra on my left...a little blue SRT-4 pulled up next to me on the right and revved, launched, eased off the throttle, waited for me to catch up, then revved again...i looked at the Cobra driver and he was just smiling and nodding, so i threw a thumbs up to the Neon a$$hat...we all kinda just rolled along at about 70, and i reckon we were all just waiting for someone else to do something first, and me, being the race-provoking-although-i'm-almost-completely-stock guy i am, punched it...of course my roughly 130 horsepower didn't keep me in the middle of the action for very long, but i saw enough to know that the SRT-4 got his a$$ handed to him...
so as much as it sucks that i can't sit here and say "i beat an SRT-4" (yet...), i get some satisfaction in knowing i can say "i saw an SRT-4 get his a$$ whooped"...

had the funniest thing happen today. sitting at a light in the middle a new dodge dually(a friend of mine) and a little srt4 on the other side of me. of course like usual the srt wants to race. revs up a couple of times. so i looked at my buddy in the dually and nodded. we all take off hard and the srt got his *** handed to him by the dually. it was great.
mods that i know of on it were
banks turbo
computer chip-bually dog?
5 inch banks exhaust
propane injection
the srt4 had no idea what to do he sure didnt take off hard at the next light

Geez you guys have immense hate for SRT's. Does the fact that it's a little faster than your civics get ya fired up that much? Whenever I see some ricer on the road I might give him a rev to show him what performance really should sound like.

Don't hate the Civic, hate the game! SRT's may be a lil'faster or what not.. but one this is for sure, a Honda Civic stock will out run a Neon anyday of the week in overall mileage. They just don't make those domestic cars like they used to. Altleast IMO.
Honda
Dodge

To me civics are absolutley nothing special and are as reliable as your everyday run of the mill car. My buddy has a 99 Lx that he delivers in and has around 60k miles on it, he's had more problems than my 99 neon did. Weird again. Last edited by qwiksilvertrav; Feb 28, 2005 at 03:32 PM.

I had a 99 Neon and beat the **** out of it for 100k miles with next to 0 problems, sold it and it's still running just as strong. Weird. Same goes with my friends around here that own them. Most are stock and run just fine at high mileage. My friend finally blew his engine on his modded 2000 neon at 150k miles and had been running nitrous on it for around 40k miles (110k - 150k). Weird, because this whole reliable thing seems to be a myth you guys believe in, but I've never seen any actual facts to it.

Dodge engine's are natorious for having leaky seals around 90k miles and blown trannies between 70k and 90k miles. I am not forsure in this thinking, but maybe SRT owners got lucky and don't have that trashy Chrysler engine and instead are infact driving the Mitsubishi Engine and Trannies. I do know for a fact though that you are driving with a Mitsu Turbo and who knows what else Dodge stole to put in there, so the bottom line is.. Enjoy driving your foreign car.

And yes you're also right about Dodge sucking the big one in the 80's and early 90's with reliability, hence the bad rep. But now, the reality is that's very much changed since Chrysler is under Benz. My 99 Neon was good improvement over the early neons, but still had some rattles, but then again that goes with any car just about. Now the new Neons really are solid *** cars. I've put 32k on my SRT and it's still just solid, and seems to run stronger every day I have it. Same goes with other SRT owners, almost 0 problems, and from what I've seen, if there is a problem, it comes from modifications and what not that aren't installed right etc.
Don't know to much about the regular neons, but I haven't heard anything about being unreliable in any way. As far as I know, they're rated right up there with the imports now. Just doesn't make sense to go by this logic "Well a 1995 Neon sucked *** and was a POS, so that means the 2005 Neon sucks and is a POS." See what I'm saying?

I dunno, lol, I just call it domestic, either way I really don't care.

i will defend the srt's, all ya'll can stfu for one reason, dollar for dollar, you will not get more speed for the money than you will with an srt4, yeah it is a still neon, however if yall have ever sat in one, there is nothing neon about it...nothing.

That's the mentality of most on this board, which is a totally retarded logic...
^^ Fiji's right though, I bet a **** load of money that if all the neon haters sat in an SRT and drove one, their minds turn a 180. I didn't expect ALL that much out of my SRT on the way to get it, because you think "neon". Just the basics and nothing else. Well I was floored when I drove it. Seats are awesome, interior material was nice, cf pattern with leather trim. Sweet *** gauges, rumbly stock exhaust, nice exterior (well except wing but it's grown on me), and then the power of course
But most of this hate comes from people who have never even sat in an SRT and they derive their opinions from regular neons, which makes those opinions WAAAY off.I do doubt these SRT's will be shortlived. If you researched, these engines are incredibly stong as hell and stout. There's a few people on the srtforums that have gone almost 100k miles and still putting down the same power on the dyno as when it was new with no problems, so the proof is finally starting to show.

LOL That's funny. Sorry bro, MY bad. lol
But ya, that's what most people base thier "It's still a Neon" or "They just slapped a turbo on a pos Neon" ect. It's like they're stuck in 1995 talking about a 95 Neon? Because the current ones have NO known issues and are used as daily rentals...why? Because they're reliable.
