This Rain

I like rain a whole lot, but it really sucks when you can't go over 60 or else you hydroplane. I don't know what's up, but I have 205-55-15's on my car, and everytime I hit the tiniest puddle my car splashes and pulls to that side... not good for commuting at 5am in the dark.

If it was windy (and it sometimes is on I-5) then I would be really screwed.

Just thought I'd vent...

i hate i-5 drivers sometimes. especially the ones that feel that 70mph in the fast lane at 1am is ok when the slow lane is completely empty.

ok that's my vent. drive safe out there.

Everything you need to know about driving in the rain.

I agree. Although for some reason I love to drive fast when it rains.

A low profile tire doesn't mean better wet traction. Better wet traction from a tire mostly depends on it's design. If your tire is lacking big gaps to evacuate the water from under the tire (inside to out), you're simply gonna slide when its wet.

It doesn't also depend on the tire, but also how much water is on the ground since every tire can only handle so much water. (For instance, a big pick-up truck with dirt tires can evacuate a lot of water and can be much more mobile in heavy rain than a Civic given the huge gaps of the truck's tire.)

DON'T speed if it's damp. When it begins to rain, water mixes with the oils cars leave on the ground... meaning slippery pavement. After it rains as it begins to dry, a tire's traction wet/dry properties are not at their best. Even with the best tires you could lose traction in a fast turn and end up not turning at all (huge understeer, y0.) Why? If there's not enough water on the ground, wet traction means nothing, and since it's not dry enough, dry traction is compromised.

Last but not least, if you're wondering if it's bad to lower your car in wet weather, it's fine... so long as you don't turn your car into a surf board.

Run wild, but be smart.

What's crackin? Work.

Long time no talk? Computer blew up.

How's the car? It's still in 1 piece.

Ever finish up my suspension? Just rear-strut bar-less.

Did I get B+Gs? Yes... and Ryan's car is still lower than mine for some reason.
