What does the acronym RAM stand for and what does it do?

What's the difference between Dual Channel or Single Channel DDR SDRAM?

What does the rotational speed of the hard drive do?

What's the typical rotational speed of the hard drive for desktops? Notebooks?

Which one has better picture quality, a .27 mm dot pitch monitor or a .25 mm dot pitch monitor and why?

What does the 32MB, 64MB, 128MB, etc. mean in the specs of a video card?

Which is more efficient, a 350 watt power supply or a 450 watt? Why?

Onlyne, there are a lot of syte, just check out http://www.pricegrabber.com. eBay would be the cheapest. While in your area, Fry's is great, although you may find a good deal at CompUSA. You may also want to check out your local "small" computer store and check out their deals. Other than that, what are you trying to look for? Anything in particular?

Random Access Memory, it where you store info to and from the CPU.

What's the difference between Dual Channel or Single Channel DDR SDRAM?

Dunno..

What does the rotational speed of the hard drive do?

Its the speed at which the platters spin. Typically the faster they spin the quicker the data is read.

What's the typical rotational speed of the hard drive for desktops? Notebooks?

For most destkops, 7200 rpms is the norm these days. Faster 10,000 rpm drives are available. For Notesbooks, it use to 4200 rpms, but now alot of them are coming with 5400 rpms.

Which one has better picture quality, a .27 mm dot pitch monitor or a .25 mm dot pitch monitor and why?

.25mm is theoretically better, since its a smaller dot. The smalle the dot the sharper the image.

What does the 32MB, 64MB, 128MB, etc. mean in the specs of a video card?

Typically the more memory you have on your video card the better since it can load and process image data on chip, rather then swapping it out to motherboard memory or even worse, hard drive space(also called virtual memory).

Which is more efficient, a 350 watt power supply or a 450 watt? Why?
I dunno.. but a 350w power supply should be adequate enough for most peeps. Sometimes though a larger PS is needed if you have alot of drives and a really fancy video card that requires alot of power.

Hope this helps..

Oh BTW, I buy some of my parts from www.pixelusa.com theyre off of Bascom Ave.

Theyre not always the cheapest, but they usually have the good stuff and keep up with the stuff thats hot on the market.

EDIT: Another place is www.atacom.com in Fremont. Theyre kinda weird though if you decide to pick up parts there. They make you order it on a computer online in the store, then they pull the part for you.
