Like I said before, Im able to pay it off in about 2 years, maybe less. I saw the thing on tech schools, but, it really doesnt concern me. As soon as I graduate UTI, I should be going to Audi Academy with a secure job.

i'm gonna be blunt here so don't take it all personally....

i think you made a really big mistake in purchasing the clip with your credit card..... holy ****... 13.9% after a 6 month intro period on a $5300 loan... you should've just saved the 500 dollars every month till you got the $2300 or better yet saved your money till you had the $5300.... credit cards = death and 13.9% interest is just digging yourself into a grave.... hope you don't run into too much trouble with it... good luck

Yeah but, why should I have to have bad credit if I dont make payments? One thing would be to skip payments or just miss payments. That gives you bad credit. Actually opening credit and making payments ontime is better cause you get to build it.

you're right, you do build credit by having a credit card and maintaining payments... every loan institution likes a good investment (someone who borrows a lot and then pays continuously over time) However, that interest will begin to add up. This also isn't taking into account any other expenses that might come up. And I trust that you got full scholarship to UTI, because that isn't what I'd consider an "affordable" school. Speaking from experience (currently still paying off "only" 6K after 5 years) it was a really poor decision. Still, damn the consequences... as long as it makes YOU happy.

For the axles, would you need both front and rear to make them match, or does it not matter? And if you get the rear, doesn't that mean rear discs ?

exactly...

lets say you do make the 500 dollar payments for the first 6 months...

that leaves you with $2300 left to pay off... lets say something happens and you aren't able to pay 500 a month that you said you were going to do every month... and it turns out that it'll take you a year to pay off the remaining balance.... you'll be stuck with $400 worth of interest on top of the $2300 that you owe...

well if you want 4 lug, then you need the front driver's and passenger side axles ... from a civic si (or rsx... I think).

we don't have rear axles

you can get rear discs from the Si ... you need rear rotors, hubs, ebrake cables (I think), calipers ... and I -think- that's all ... I could be wrong

personally in my opinion the point of a credit card is used to buy things if you forgot your money or if an emergency came up. Don't get me wrong I use a credit card to buy clothes, food, ice cream or whatever but i do it knowing that i could make the full payment at the end of the billing cycle. I know for the Citibank card you get 1% back off the 5300 purchase so really it came out to $5247

-side note here, aren't JDM motors illegal in Cali? I know a K20A2 or K20A3 isn' if you get it the same year or newer than the year of the car but what about the JDM motors?

nope, JDM motors aren't illegal ... if there is a US counterpart.

here's a link to legalizing a JDM DC2-R motor ... http://www.honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=906684

I don't know if the type S motor counts as the type R's counter part though ... =\ ... oh well ... when the time comes .....

Yes, they are illegal. In fact, any used motor that didn't come out of a California car is illegal. Even though the RSX in Cali has the same emissions equipment as the RSX in Florida, California law states that the used engine has to be out of the same model year or newer car that was originally sold in California. That means to take it to get certified you have to have documentation on the car that the motor came out of. This might not matter if you don't have a smog check for awhile, but if you do get rolled and they decided to be **** about it, they can take your car away. Don't you love California law.

^^ completely untrue for the motor having to be purchased in california ... you can use a motor from anywhere.

it doesn't mention it anywhere here

Regardless of what you may find on the website, what I stated is true... at least it was at the end of 2004. If it changed at the beginning of 2005 then I apologize for my ignorance. I just recently went through the whole process of an engine swap on my friend's car and he wanted to make sure it was completely street legal. He went through the legalities of every step to make sure that it met California's guidelines. My statement above comes from personal experience in 2004.

k on the ecu question posted earlier
1. Hondata is the company that makes the Kpro
2. Make: Hondata Model: Kpro

You'd better shop around for that install job man Darkside quotes REALLY high on many of thier customers. NO DISRESPECT to them at all, but 3 grand for install just for labor is too much imo.

I also recommend you find the most current schedule of hondata seminars that are going to be held in the future so you know how to properly tune your motor, being a UTI student you will probably catch alot quicker(im assuming).

check out www.k20a.org on any other information regarding the k series motor swaps. Theres alot more you need than the motor itself. If you need help on a install I may know a guy who will help you out and include you in the install to help you get some real hands on experience.. PM if you need anything else. im here to help if you need any.

That's a good point... might've been the case. My friend did most of the researching with shops, online, etc. I could be wrong, but I just meant to share my experience to hopefully save someone else the hassle.

there is a difference between paying off the balance and paying the minimum.
Get ready to get raped by the credit card companies.

There's a problem with that.. you have to make money to be able to write off taxes.

well im just saying why not just buy the engine in full then instead of putting it on credit?

By paying in full, its yours. By paying with credit, u are gonna be paying probably like twice as much for it.
