okay. .anyone know about ??

Hey, does anyone in south cali have a laptop or at least a wireless router? I just recently got a dell laptop and it comes with a wirelress network adaptor. Im trying to get a wireless router but don't know where i need a network card or not?? Any help on wireless router information and best place to get it. I did some research and foudn that outpost / frys has the Linksys WRT54G for 69.99 which is a good price for a router. However, i don't know where or not if i would need the specs on that copmared to a netgear router for 30.00. any input or help ? thanks in advance

try www.cnet.com and you should get a lot of answers

and if you're laptop came with a network adaptor, that means all u need is a signal, or a wireless router to provide that in your house. also, check if you're network adaptor is for 802.11b or 802.11g, as 802.11g is much faster.

what he said.

But g or b shouldnt matter, yet. Its not that you would actually get the transfer speed of the g anyway. you should be okay with b.

I suggest a NetGear for the home wireless, easy to use.

I have a Netgear WG602. It's an access point, not a router. I just needed a wireless signal for my laptop because my other computers are already networked via ethernet. I suggest the G-standard just so you won't have to upgrade later. Like what Reflekt said, CNET is a GREAT site for anything tech related and I always do my research there before I buy ****. They have a great Wireless guide too.
