They are nice cars pricey though. They come Turboed if you get the 1.8T 180hp. Lot's of performance parts available. I think I heard, a mod chip give alone will give you tons of power.

GTI's are known for a lot of electrical problems and not too reliable. And does anyone freakin know what those freakin solar panel thing are they put on the top of the window.

Better to ask VW owners themselves. HOPEFULLY they'll be honest...

R32 cost 30 g's
the gti 1.8t are nice car and fun to drive.
also neuspeed has a bunch of stuff for that car.
Here is the dyno for the r32 though

Weak! Why pay so much for that when you can get the Evolution or the STI at under 32K easily if you look hard enough. In a Edmunds review they rated the Celica GTS and the RSX S with much better reviews. Within the 20k to 26k price range I would get a used S2000 with low miles, RSX S, or a WRX. Thats my choices, but if I wanted comfort luxury items I would go with the GTI. Try to look for the 2002 337 or the 2003 20th Anniversary. The 20th Anniversary came with a lot of nice standard options as well as a better suspension.
20th Anniversary version looks nice inside and out, but suspension is way too soft for the 18" wheels. Those 18" are not suitable for the car, way too big, hard to handle in bumply road. Engine have enough power, but only in the 3500-5000rpm.
I switch my civic with my friend's 20th golf for a week. I like my civic better, except Golf have more power. If I gonna get that 20th Golf, I will change it back to 17" wheels, get some coilovers.......and short shift, that 6 speed doesn't feel right.

If your going to get a golf. i would wait till the 2005 is released later this year. The tenitive time is November. your getting a better suspension setup, more power (T3/T4 in stead of the T3 Turbo), better safery features, and will still be around the same price. The golfs are good relilable cars. They can be very quick with the proper mod's and look sweet fixed up. They do weigh a lot for their size but that is because they are built with stronger materials then your normal civic and come with more features standard such as the moonroof, full size spare tire, power everything, ac, etc... . I myself am looking into the R32, awsome car. What I always wanted, but that price is really pushing me away. The STI is looking better and better by the day.
