cal pol pomona
tuition has been increased by 30% this quarter and parking fees have rose as well. i just received my bill today and the total was $912. i just want to POST how appalled i am to see that even cal state systems are beginning to raise their tuition higher and higher. i mean, we might as well just be going to uc’s for this price! any who.. yeah.. i guess i’m just posting this for students who also attend cal poly and would like to voice their opinions about the fee incensement.
i believe last quarter tuition was $649 and parking was $72. currently parking is at least $90 and tuition is approximately $850.

my bill from cal poly was exactly $912 too. sucksss.
also, i have a question for you cal poly ppl..
like, apparently, i didnt know i had to "reapply" for FAFSA this upcoming year term, so i did. but i did like..last week. and my tuition is due in Late August, this month?!. and i'm not sure if i'll be getting that FAFSA check in time, along with the scholarships and grants. you guys know if i Would get it in time? or will i hav to pay out of pocket. anyway, it's wack that they had to increase our costs. whats the point of going to cal poly then. oh wait, i'm an architecture major. blehhh.

You guys are semesterly, right? Which means you pay twice a year?
Mine are quarterly, which means I pay 4 times a year.. or 3..
It's $2055.50 --- that is my bill for fall quarter -- they don't even bother to MAIL it to you. They decided that the cost of "mailing your bill" is too much and think it will save money to NOT mail you your bill, but they expect you to pay it on time.
My parking permit PER quarter is $99.
So I guess, take 2055.50 plus 99, then times it by 3 .....
errr.. what does that come out to?
Anywho, my stupidass school, UCI has the highest cost of books in all of southern california, and I have no idea why. It is a fact that the school knows, but they won't do anything about it. There used to be a bookstore across the street from my school -- u know those that will sell u used books? But it's gone now. I have no idea why.
And to people that get financial aid; somehow, I don't feel that it (the system) is fair. My mom is the only one supporting my family of five right now, and we pay taxes, fairly... etc. but I don't get fin aid? WTF?? I apply every year, but I dont' get it.
I have had to do some pretty rotten things in the past to pay for school -- which I won't go into detail-- but people get desperate.. and when you get desperate, well, you don't do the right thing for money.
My friends that I know of who get financial aid, all use their financial aid money NOT FOR SCHOOL but use alot of it to buy stuff for their car. How unfair is that? When other people don't have enough to pay for tuition alone. You tell me how someone that makes 8 bucks an hour that can barely work, because they are disabled is going to make enough to pay over two grand to go to school every couple months? The system is the ghayest. My OTHEr friend, not only bought a kit and wing for her integra with financial aid, she also got freaking breast implants. IS it really necessary to use people's tax money to buy breast implants when it is meant for people who can't afford to pay for school????? WTF???????????
Yeah, I guess you can say I am mad that it sucks. The government sucks. Just because your one parent makes the income right where the government draws the line -- you know that is barely enough to live on with the costs here in california.
I'm so pissed.. my car is not even fixed. I just barely saved up a few hundred (yes, it takes me forever to do that).... and here is time to pay for tuition again.

Rep Power: 0 damn Handsonme....i thought my school was always trying to rip its students a new one...but yours seems a bit worse...your parking is a lil more expensive than mine...but at my school..they are trying to make us park farther and farther each year from campus....so whats the deal with paying 80 a quarter for parking if your gonna be walking 15 mins just to get onto campus....i swear our new chancler is a stupid *** Bits...when she became chancler she got her husband a job there that pays 80000 a year, during a budget crisis...wtf is that about...

we don't get mailed anything.. this quarter was the last quarter we got hardcopies of our bills and they stopped sending us resgistration cards a couple of months ago.. the only think cal poly will mail you is a letter asking for donations..

(He teaches Sociology) Anyways, Monica... parking is going to remain the same price at Cal Poly as it was last quarter... trust me I SHOULD KNOW... don't argue with me I know more about Cal Poly than you do... esp. since I go to UC Pierce! hahahaha

Rep Power: 0 I got financial aid with no problem really...I got money from the Cal Grant too but I dunno how much because apparantly they're redoing everything because of all the tuition increases.
