There is a gutted Civic for sale in the forums for 3K with a K20a3. I want to know how tough the head swap was to an a2.

I remember he was blowing smoke at the meet. Is that an issue with the swap? has he had any issues yet?

Isn't there an oil galleyway issue and the a2 block has an extra oil screen or something?

You might have to register to view it... there are links to some other good threads in that thread too!

Yeah he has k-pro but it was untuned and running very rich and thus the smoke... and yes he has bent a valve once, had it machined and reinstalled it and when we were driving back from a Jerome run it destroyed a piston(and valve) due to valve float. He has sold the a2 head and returned to the stock a3 head.

I think you might be thinking of the K24A2(TSX) when swapped into an Si requires a different line due to differences in the intake manifold config...

Peace

Those are some close tolerances. Was the head milled to all hell? Why did he return it to stock?

To the best of my knowledge the head hadnt been milled when he got it... He was just frustrated with it as both instances occured within 4 months of each other! He might just be keeping his Si as a daily driver and trade his other car for something else...

even if its just a k20a3 in a gutted civic that thing will be pretty dang stout and should pull nicely... just JRSC it and call it a day! with the A2 head you have to buy and run so much extra crap it aint funny! Esp the K-pro... thats $850 at its CHEAPEST plus the tuning!...

Peace
