i can hear the vtec crys now. lx is lighter, don't know by how much, but the ex has something like 13 more hp. i've only been in the ex and never got to race anybody else in a 7th gen. i would imagine they're pretty much even, at least off the line because the good part of the vtec doesn't kick in till about 5500 rmp's

If you're talking about plain stock with no mods then I'd say EX since it's got V-tec in it and LX doesn't. 127Hp to 115Hp...you do the math.

depends on transmission, driver skill, and how far you are racing. It could either way. Yeah ex has vtec, but that doesn't really meen anything. I have been this one guy on both 1/4 and 1/8 mile tracks. I have LX he has EX. Both of us were stock at the time, except he had a big *** wing and indiglo H emblem on the back. Seen how both those added 20 hp each. LOL

its a toss up with stock cars, just depends on alot, if you had the same driver in each car, like do a 1/4 with a ex, then a lx , the ex would run a slight faster time

The DX is the lightest. It has no power windows or locks, no sunroof, and shares the motor with the LX. It even comes stripped of AC. With this in mind it may be light enough to be faster than the EX.

V-Tec is highly overrated i think, all those ricers around wearing V-tec brand clothing and shoes lol talking about how there v-tech is the key to the worlds problems. makes me mad, i wanted and ex at first but i kinda wanted to be different but then with a civic how can you be?

well, 13 hp or not, it makes somewhat of a difference. I raced my friend's dx with my ex (seeing as how he knows how to drive and I don't) ... all he has is aem cai and I have k&n fipk/custom catback (press bent).

Well, I didn't launch, but he did, however, I still ended up beating him by about a car length or two by about 80 mph

best way to describe vtec:
turbo lag + hype - turbo power = vtec

VTEC works for its intended purpose, but that's not drag racing.

BTW: If I beat a automatic EX with a 5 speed anything, I don't think it would be anything to brag about. Apples and oranges that.

You can't compare auto to 5spd, I would guess the EX would be faster...Come on now 81 pounds more with 13 more hp. I have never raced the two, but if they were both 5spd I would think the ex would win easily.

If you reread my post you'll see that I am simply stating a fact: The DX is the lightest. With that FACT in mind it is pure speculation that it MAY be the fastest. Why don't you try to have a mature conversation and save your condescension for someone else.

An ex dependant on the driver will generally be slightly faster than an lx, but due to the wieght factor of the dx, the ex driver must be a bit better than the dx driver, it really is only a difference overall in equivalent too about another passenger in the car...

Maybe I'm a good driver but i/e/p and I hold and pull a bit on ex's with i/h/e/h-fc with at least a moderate driver.

The old si's are fun until about 50 or so, and then the dohc becomes enherently obvious.

i have a dx btw.

i just got my 01 dx and its still bone stock...my friend with a 02 Ex and only a cat back exhaust smoked me...probably since this is the first 5 speed ive ever drove....but in my terms the 1 car, length that he beat me by was enough to get my nerves goin and my need for more power racin through my head....btw....the way it seems to me....if you put a shitty driver in either the dx or the ex....his times arnt gonna vary TOOOOO much one car he gains in weight loss....the other car he gains in HP....? no? keep it quick off the lines!
