Thumbs up Got to Sit in a New EVO VIII!

I went to the Import Generation show at the Tampa Convention Center on Sunday. They had about 5 or 6 EVO VIIIs there. I went over and talked to the guys the sales persons that were there. Then the one guy said, "How bout you take a seat in the driver seat". When I sat down in that car it was like WOW. It was very comfortable and the throw on gears was ver short. If only I had $30K to spend on a car.

I've driven one- they are VERY fast.

Too bad they are so ugly- looks like such a riceboy car.

Honestly tho I better have my car finished before I run into one on the road, tho-

The day I drove one, I raced and WALKED a c5 when I had 2 people in the car!

Also, that car has a fantastic suspension, engine, and drivetrain. Unfortunately, that's all it has. Other than the driver and passenger seats, the inside and outside of the car is SHITTY- cheaply built. 30Gs pays for speed and handling, but nothing else with the evo VIII

i too think they could have done some better designing on it. but they are pretty quick i guess they need a good body kit and maybe even some sort of conversion.

A guy a know has one, and stock it will not walk a C5 with a good driver. His is pretty damn modded now though. He is getting ready to take it to detroit to get an AWD dyno, but they figure around 330 WHP

That car is ugly on the inside and outside..... The main thing is that the interior is the same as a shitty base Lancer..... and the front looks like a Ricer Boy's Car... No thanks.. I'll take a STi anyday of that ****

Evo's are hitting high 13's stock, C5's hit low 13's stock........... whatever you want to say......

And trust me on this one, the guy who has the Evo used to own a 500 RWHP Z06
I am going to have to call :zbsflag:

I've riden in both stock, and I know a stock Evo will not take a stock C5, even an automatic C5. Please tell me you raced from a dig, to make your story halfway beleiveable, but if you say from a roll.... you are an idiot, but I call BS anyways

ha, well that guy must have been a GOD at speed-shifting, and the guy in the vette must have been having one hell of a bad day. Seeing as how im not very impressed with the Evo8 yet since ive already pulled away from one in an 80 - 100 roll on my way to work one morning a few weeks back, and although my car is quick, its definitely no corvette, so either BS (whether its real or not) or the guy already had some modding goin on, or perhaps the vette wasnt pushing his engine as hard as the Evo was... Ill be more than happy to borrow good ole' dads C5 and meet up with this guy who pulled on one, and see how it goes, WITH video this time for proof?

Yes, it was from a dig, and yes I walked him with ease, and yes I'm quite a good driver- at my last autoX school I pulled the 2 fastest times of the day- cars that were there- me in my modded IS, a porsche 944, bmw M3, g35 coupe, 3 miatas(one s/c), wrx, and- oh, an evo 8

Granted autoXing isn't the same as drag racing, but I'm one of the few N/A IS300s that i've ever HEARD of hitting 14.6s. (2.1 60' times consistantly) I know how to launch and shift a car.

Say whatever you want- I know what happened- You will never win this discussion from my point of view, because I was there. I don't know what else to say.

yes I will win this discussion. The facts are there, a stock Evo CANNOT beat a stock C5, its a fact. All I can tell you is the C5 driver wasnt racing.

LOL This thread makes me laugh. Doublin said that he walked a C5, not that he smoked it. Do you know how quick an Evo jumps off the line? AWD Turbo is a very big advantage over the C5 when running from a dead stop. While the guy in the C5 is spinning, you're grabbing and leaving his ***.
As for all the comments about how crappy the evo is....well I'll have to disagree with you all. I looked at the evo this past weekend with my cousin, who's currently in the market for a new car. The salesman that we talked to said that there are dealers out there who are marking up the evo $10,000!!! And they're selling just as quick as the $30,000 evos. There's a reason for this. The evo is a very well built car. It's basically a domesticated version of the actual rally car. Believe it or not, there's alot of thought and engineering that has gone into this car. More so than with any other mitsubishi in the past. The very comfortable Recaro racing seats up front and similarly finished rear seats, momo steering wheel, hand made carbon fiber rear wing (that's actually functional, which isn't "rice"), HID headlights that can be adjusted from inside the car, short shifter, AWD LSD tranny geared perfectly for the power curve, intercooled 16g turbo equipped with auto or manual mist for added intercooler performance, 4 wheel Brembo disk brakes, racing suspension, etc... I could go on and on. This car is bad ***, so stop hatin! Oh yeah, I forgot to mention the 19lbs of boost. STOCK!!!!

Maybe so, but they're still ugly.

And I would disagree about the AWD off the line. You may have better traction, but driving all 4 wheels on pavement saps much of the enginer power.

1995 Chevrolet Corvette ZR-1 ... . 4.9 13.1
1996 Chevrolet Corvette Collectors' .. 4.9 13.3
1996 Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport 4.7 13.3
1997 Chevrolet Corvette ........ 4.7 13.3
1998 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible . 5.1 13.5
1999 Chevrolet Corvette Hardtop .. ... 4.8 13.3

Mitsubishi is promising acceleration times on par with the 5.3-second 0-to-60 and 13.8-second quarter-mile we got out of the Evo VII.

No you didn't. Why are you trippin' dude? You killed a C5 and you had people in the car? Let me just tell you the C5 has 350hp, the evo has 270. The C5 has a 5.7, the Evo has a 2.0
Maybe the guy was just cruisin'. Why don't you do us all a favour and spare your B.S.???
