Beetle mania hit me

Well i wasn't actually into Beetle but it hit me when i was in their showroom and i was tempted by its looks if not by its performance. And since we'll be buying it, my dad and i took it for a test drive against my civic. its not our actual unit, it was a dealer demo unit so we lined it up at the nearby industrial zone. my dad drove my vic and i was with the salesperson. It was a 1.6L DOHC automatic tranny and weighed 1,600 kgs. my civic was stock manual. Of course by 2nd gear i could see my dad laughing at me as he went by but the Beetle crept and hanged on. By the time it was on 3rd my dad was 3 cars away from me.
Still i was impressed and it was just a test to measure the Beetle, i wasn't after performance at all, besides it will be my mom's car. Maybe i just don't want my mom to be left behind with other cars.
What i hate is the salesman proving what he knows about a European car and a Japanese car, and that he is right. Couldn't argue with him, i was concentrating on my driving.

115 hp 1.6L matic tranny, i don't know the torque. they only offer this model for our country for economy. Too bad other models like the 1.8T which has other features won't arrive here.
One thing's for sure, i won't replace the VTi, i've always ignored beetles. If i'd go European, i'll settle with 300horses and above. they're known for luxury and aftermarket parts that's hard to find or expensive. They're not the type for DIY's also.
The civic is economical, cheap and has the aftermarket support i need. Japanese would still be Japanese and beetles are not on the same category even if they have the same displacement etc.
All i want is drive every car, if i can't own it.
