What?! Are the 'vics really that slow? I had one for a year and I didn't think they were THAT slow. I never 1/4 miled mine.
My IS is into the 14s now and the 'vic didn't feel THAT much slower, although I've utterly slaughtered a few on the road, have yet to meet one at the track, but 3 SECONDS? 3 seconds in the quarter mile is an eternity- that is like 15-20 car lengths.
damn, you learn something new every day.

but really its only on the autos where people cant get faster times without doin major work, the gears are tall in the first two out of the four, so thats four torque=four doors, manual trannys are for more racier type cars, so in turn the gears are short in the first two and a torque gear in the fourth, and fifth is just keepin it smooth, so thats why there so slow, my car is a fifteen second car, and will be fourteen with little extensive work, thats at least above 200 per item, HA

Well, honda has posted that the ex is 17.4 1/4, but through discusion I think it is probably the auto ex, I think you'd run a little faster with a stick and a few bolt ons, they do help a little...
lx manual, and aluminum flywheel, easy one or two tenths, with act 6puck clutch assembly, easily one or two tenths of quarter, noticeable increasement everywhere, it helps to lighten up our light cars.
I'm not sure about the EX auto, but here are the 0-60 and quarter mile road tests for and LX manual sedan and an EX manual coupe from edmunds.com...
"During track testing, the LX Sedan scooted from 0 to 60 in 8.4 seconds, while the EX Coupe hustled to 60 in an impressive 7.9 seconds. The Sedan swallowed the quarter mile in 16.5 seconds, while the Coupe gulped it down in 16.2. Both models' times were markedly better than those posted by the 2000 LX Sedan we drove in last year's comparison test. In real world driving, the horsepower increase in each engine wasn't readily apparent; both models built up and maintained speed without complaint and passing power was never lacking, just as in last year's Civic. One of our drivers was cognizant, however, of the increase in mid-range torque, which he found delightful."
I'm assuming the driver in these tests is a professional and not an average joe, so expect more typical times to about half a second more around (just a guess mind you).

And don't forget they usually also get new cars that aren't fully broken in. Some engines could take as much as 15K to fully wake up.
ya screw the fact that gear 1 and 2 are tall and far spaced in ratio, but 3 and 4 are alright. lol i sometimes shift my auto. i'm thinking of a shift kit and a tranny/torque converter rebuild. is it worth it if i eventually go on with a k20?
