Anyone gonna make a guide to racing 5spd..searched?
maybe that would be nice, i kinda need one, im not the expert on racing stick, but i do know how to drive it decently. So if anyone would make one, that would be cool, cuz then maybe i can see waht techniques u guys use when u race. Like downshifting speeds, and rpms, and etc for dry starts or rolling starts and all. thanx

Racing stick is simple. launch at 3k rpm, shift at 6900rpm. that's all there is to it.
As for downshifting and rolling... Downshift into a gear that won't red within a few milliseconds of shifting into it. For rolling starts, just make sure you keep your RPMs up during the downshift.
dont think im trying to flame cuz im not, but i think you should just wait a lil bit to learn how to drive manual better, then consider learning how to shift in a race.
Now, to answer your questions...basicall you just need to shift with precision. Know where your peak powerband is at on your tachometer and try to shift as close as possible to it . The only time i downshift when im "racing" is if i have a rolling start. i'll use the double clutch technique: shift to neutral, rev match the engine with the rpm, downshift to a lower gear and floor it...thats the best description i can give you. you usually wont be shifting to fifth if youre racing...depending how long you race...i know i dont

I got a dx stick, and I start at 3.5k. I have my tach set at 6.2-6.25 to give me a couple of milliseconds to shft to the next gear at about 6.5 or so. Watch your rpms, and watch your shift speed too. If it takes you 300 rpm to shift, then shift right around 6.6 in a ex. as you shift more qiuckly start to cut up another 100 or so.
As for the best shifting, when I race v-6 mustangs, or rsx's I always speedshift. BE CAREFUL. Everyone says if you don't know how to do it you can mess something up, what that is aside from the clutch I don't know, but I just tried it one day cause I didn't care and a gt-s celica pissed me off. (Yes, I held her, yes her.) the way I do it is hard to explain. It's different every couple times I do it but a basic idea is either try to shift fast enough so that you don't need to use your clutch (takes a little practice, again be carefull) if you aren't you can grind your gears. .
Or you can pull the stick out of the gear and follow with a tap to the clutch to initiate 2nd, 3rd, 4th , whatever. Poeple say just slam the gas, but it is more than that to do it right, I cut a least 2/10ths or 3/10ths just but speed shifting.
Revo short shifter soon, hopefully this will make it that much easier. Any corrections, personal experience, whatever is welcome. I like to imbibe whenever possible.

As far as downshifting froom a rolling start, my normal shifts seem to be:
30 to second gear...
50 shift down to third...
I guess 70 would be maybe late 3rd, or 4th.
These are general guidlines for me to have at least a good half a second or full second before having to shift up, this is just my experience.
