Sounds like we have 2 sides driving different cars and of course each sides car is faster. Si owners cry because everyone thinks their cars are ugly and in all reality, only a hair faster than an ex in a CONTROLLED eviroment.

Personally, I think that if you put robots that drive exactly and perfectly the same in each car, the si would win by a tad.

However, even if the si does run high 15's on avg, that's only like .5 or so faster than the avg ex 5spd. The slightest slip can swallow a half-second in a blink of an eye.

Again, times are so close that it's a driver's race w/ a hair advantage to the si.

Some of you si drivers act like we are comparing cars that are literally seconds apart. Let it go. You have more potential engine wise, but just because you have an 7thgen with an "si" badge it doesn't mean you are the nightrider or something. It means you bought a car that nobody else is buying (people don't like the looks and the performance) and you are going to be stuck trying to prove how great it is for the rest of the time you own it.

First off, stupid comments like this are not even related to the question being asked, its just straight out dumping on someones ride, and thats shitty man, bottom line the si is a better car than your ex in allot more ways than just straight line speed but i'm not going to get into that, i dont want to dump on the ex at all, i just dont see how a car with 30 less hp and 30 less flb of torque can keep up with our car (stock vs stock). And i've raced a few ex's and they were not a challenge, and by no means a close race at all.

Bottom line, this needs to be ended with a race, plain and simple. Start posting some loctions so we can set this up. I doubt anyone here is from Canada, but if there is, my Si is stock, and I have a video camera.

yup.... so let's not do this. we're not going to get into the "this car is better than that car" contest. we all buy what we WANT to drive, and what we feel best suits our tastes.

the topic is the straightline differences between the ex and ep hatch.

Was not intended to flame and we aren't talking about other ways that the si is better. I actually love everything about the si but the exterior.

The statement was made because of the attitude that comes accross in general in a lot of si owner's posts accross the board. When people will absolutely not give into any reasoning whatsoever, the actual issue is something completely different than the one at hand.

Anyhow, I don't consider my statement(s) to be a flame and I didn't intend it/them to be. I do believe that they are very truthful though.

Ok, i put the word out to other si owners on ephatch.com, so i expect you guys to do the same. Hope we can settle this, i may be wrong, but from my experiences with ex's and lx's i've always done very well. According to you, it should be a close race, so hopefully one of the racers will bring a camera.

As for this

All i can say is you can always expect some ammount of attitude when you tell someone that the extra 4 or 5 thousand that they spent on their car wasnt worth it, because your car can keep up with and even beat theirs. NO ONE takes comments like that well, and a defensive attitude usually follows.

And although your statements do contain some truth, (the controversial styling) overall i have received a very positive response from people.

I have yet to see this supposed post on ephatch.com where you are calling out all Si's to get a race with an EX.

I'll post up a thread.

SiHatch.... I'm not mag racing. Mag racing is BS. I'm talking real world times... members HERE ON THIS SITE have hit high 15's in thier stock 7th gens. HWoody77 is one I know of off-hand. Again, show me timeslips or threads of stock EP hatches running anything faster than mid/high 15's. Even a 15.6 is a driver's race for a 7th gen. Like I said, I don't mag race cuz it's stupid. I'm talking real world times from real drivers.
Well I speak from experience when I see EX's run 16.8 at their best with i/h/e here in San Antonio....I still have yet to see anyone ask to race me with their ex, I know there's some ex drivers here from san antonio.
And yeah I know 15.7 isnt that great. I'm sure it's probably better by now. We'll see when I go to the track hopefully this coming week if the track is opened up from the vacation time.

Well, I got back from the track and hit a 16.2 my first two times. I just have a Short Ram Intake and progress springs. I'm calling BS on anyone who says they got a mid 15 stock. There is no way. I did the best I could. Given my 60ft was a 2.46, even if I had dipped down to about a 2.2, which is hard on stock tires....there's no way I'm getting a 15.5.

Wow...The main man from EPhatch (I have nothing against that site or you) stated himself that he finds those times hard to believe. Interesting. I drive the Incubus SI civic occasionally. Granted it has 18's it also has an exhaust. My EX, when it was stock, that I drive daily isn't much diferent. I can tell the tourque is there in the SI but i had to push it harder than I thought to keep up with a member on this site, Grey, who is a Moderator (also only had K&N drop-in filter, 17's - which would slow that down as well). Now the gear ratios are very close that is why our acceleration times are close. The SI has a great midrange, where's the VTEC kick though? My buddy in my car club has a 2000 SI and that one is there, I couldn't even figure out where the VTEC engagement is on the new Si.

Anything to add to that? I drive both myself. Granted I have a Gen2 FIPK and a Mozart exhaust, I know I can beat that Si (IN PARTICULAR) at any speed, stop or highway. What's you hatches top speed anyway? Limited? I got my lightly modded EX to 131 so far, the Si I don't run that hard at those speeds.
actually I'm using the same name. I was a bit pissed that I couldn't get into the 15's...I know how to drive...so I thought. I later on said in another post that I was outta line to say such a stupid thing...just because I couldn't do it, doesn't mean someone else couldn't. All I did since that last 16.2 was well....nothing. So now I'm running a 15.7. Maybe it's a really long break in period....I don't know. I still am up for racing some one with i/h/e on their EX...anyone!?
oh...main man....I don't think so...that's DTH

Like I said, I PM'd him, so we'll see if he can still upload it to me. However, most members here have seen it. 15.8 is the best stock time for a 7th gen.

Even if you are running 15's is that something to really brag about??? I mean people on this site with 33 less horse power than SI's have run 15's. Face it, your car is slow, it shouldn't be, but it is.

Maybe if that fat little pig lost some weight it could be fast. But its not. So go out and drop a k20a2 in there and make it fast. Cause the k20a3 sucks

Not once have I brought up any Si running 16 seconds... I don't care what crappy drivers run... I've only been talking about the best drivers running 15.8 or so stock.

definitely not something to brag about, you're right about that. Slow, I guess so, but that makes the ex even slower
I do hate how the k20a3 came with two intake cams versus one intake and one exhaust cam.....I was pissed when I found that out. But just like anything....this car can be made to go as fast as the driver wills it to be. I'm wanting to be in the mid 13's with this...that's with full interior. And I like how fat my pig car is

I'm spoiled by the other sites doing the linking for me

Oh it's no prob for me when people say stuff about the looks of the car. I, in fact, used to be one of the people that said..."OH MY GOD! What was honda thinking! That car is nasty!"
So one day I saw some previous gen hatches (modded of course) and started to like hatches (I used to own a EX coupe..1997 JRSC and hated hatches)...then found myself starring at the new Si. crazy how things happen. So no one wants to race me in SA?

the si has the edge over the ex...the ex can beat an si, but not as likely as the si beating the ex
I think that statement sums it all up.

I agree, I should have expected that kind of response. I probably could have stated my opinion in a better way. Have a on me.
I payed 16,700 for mine. I saw ex's for 16,100....so how did I pay 4-5 k more?

CANcivic said that, not me. Heck, I may have bought an si for $16700. I hate the exterior but love the interior. I have been very close to trading my vic for an si a couple times. I even went so far as to get the wife's approval. Trading cars is addictive and it throws away money like nothing. It's not the exterior that holds me back it's the performance. Anyhow, I love my slow **** vic! I mean grocery getter.

Bottom line: They are close performance wise and it's pretty much a driver's race with an edge to the si. Plain and simple.

if you think so. That to me is like saying it a drivers race between me and 02 Mustang GT. If the driver sucks...I'll win...well...he must suck really bad! Not something I'd call close in performance. But whatever...everyone has their own opinion.....No one wants to race me?.....Civic EX that is.
Maybe I should try and go to the Texas forum of this site...if there is one...

A race between a car that can run 15.7 stock and another car that can run 15.9 stock is a driver's race.

you and mustang GT? lol... no... a 15.7 second car vs a 13.9 second car is no where in hell, NEAR a driver's race.
