Re: 2002 Grand Am W quad 4

Aren't you the guy that claimed your 140hp 5spd ex beat a 197hp 6spd si? Just curious.

Oh, and your i-vtec doesn't kick in @ 5000-6000 rpms, those are si's. Your i-vtec kicks in closer to 3000 and it isn't geared towards giving you power, it's geared towards fuel economy. You won't feel a kick, and you'll barely even notice it if you do at all.

I'm not meaning to be an *** here or anything but please learn about your car. The r18 is a good engine and all but it's not fast in the least bit, it's not meant to be. Yeah it has a decent amount of pep for the fact that it's specifically geared towards economy, but it still isn't fast enough to try and go around racing people.

Re: 2002 Grand Am W quad 4

First you are being an *** right off.Second i never claimed my Ex beat an Si in fact <if you would of read it thouroughly > i said that the Si had 2 car lengths on me at the end and it was'nt a race i just dropped into fourth and we both sped to about 107. His car would of owned mine by bus lengths i know this.

Just do me a favor and read the post before you refer to it. I know my car is not fast but that does not phohibit me from doing whatever i want whenever i want. Thank you for your reply i appreciate your ignorant attempt to make me feel ashamed of my car.

Re: 2002 Grand Am W quad 4

awww, you need an e-hug.

I wasn't trying to make you ashamed of your car in the least bit, just trying to say it's not a race car. The si isn't a race car either, it's just a little more impressive.

Koenigsegg ccx2 = racecar
bugatti veyron - racecar
civic si = quick for an economy car.

Plus, if you hadn't got your panties in a wad about me asking a question, I did say that I was just curious. I'm sorry that I don't pay enough attention to reading worthless race threads to be able to recite them, that really is my bad. As for not being able to tell you what to do, you're absolutely right. I can't make you not to masterbate to pictures of 80 year old men dressed like batman, but I can tell you that it's stupid because there's 18 year old boobies out there.

Oh, and I love how you call me ignorant and yet you think that your vtec kicks @ 5 or 6 grand.

Learn about your car. Love it all you want, I actually am a huge fan of 8th gens so don't get it twisted. I just think that if you're going to post things like that you should at least know what you're talking about.

Hey, have a highfive for effort though.

Re: 2002 Grand Am W quad 4

ok, ill be an ***, dont street race, its childish and stupid, u want to race, get out to the track, dont risk killing someone else because u need to see if ur dick is bigger than it really is, and while the quad 4 in the grand am might have some power, it blows headgaskets like hookers blow *****, and its a shitty motor, and i-vtec in the r18 is junk, our n/a cars are not racecars, not even close, sporty, fun, peppy, maybe, but not racecars, grow up, and stop street racing, face it, ur hung like a midget....

sorry to sound like an ***, but grow up

Re: 2002 Grand Am W quad 4

^someone had to say it.

i'm beginning to think the title of this specific forum, "Honda Civic Racing, Street Encounters and Competition Racing" should be edited to something like "Honda Civic autocross, drag and track racing", removing anything about street racing from the title, and threads such as this should be deleted or locked. if you wanna be a retard, and street race, fine, but the vast majority of people on this site neither support it, nor want to hear about it.

Re: 2002 Grand Am W quad 4

i agree, the title should be changed, do u know who the mod of this area is, maybe triz knows, cuz this is basically just promoting street racing, its just kinda silly, kids watch too much 2 fast, u cant be serious these days, i cant stand it, it seems like every stop light i come to someone wants to go at it, and im like, my car is slow, its not a racecar, and i let them waste the gas and say, see my dick is bigger, and i dont have to prove it on the street

I dunno, I thought I read it pretty carefully and you said you were racing a grand am, not an Si- correct?

Anyways, you guys just need to chill before the killing starts.

If we change the title of this sub-forum to what you said ambulance, then people will find another sub-forum to post about it in - off topic maybe. The point is, if people want to street race, they are going to- and if they want to post about it, they are going to.

"Honda Civic Racing, Street Encounters and Competition Racing"
To be honest, I think "Honda Civic" before each sub-forum is a little repetitive given the domain name, but anyways. It doesn’t specifically say, "street racing" in the title. "Street encounters" could be anything from seeing an Atom driving on the same road as you, to seeing an accident happen. A lot of people interpret that as street racing, and yeah- well, that is an encounter too. "Honda civic racing" does not specify legal vs non-legal, not auto-x vs. drag. "Competition racing" doesn’t spell out street racing to me either- what comes to mind is more along the lines of Nascar for civics- group track racing.

I'm going to create a sticky in this sub forum that touches on a few issues.

Ambulance, look for a PM from me.

Re: 2002 Grand Am W quad 4

in the case vs. R-Series defense however.....

Im not sure on what the AT is like as im sure its prob garbage and all as any other AT for the most part, not including top end cars!
But the MT models are not too shabby stock however i own the R18A1 modified somewhat and the car goes like a **** now (No defense in vs. 5-6k iVTEC kick-in) but when you have what i have installed you can hear the iVTEC engage.

My current (engine related) mods are:
InJeN CAI
2.25" exhaust system w/2.25" glasspack for resonator
MeganRacing downpipe

This alone opens this model up quite signifigantly over stock version and sounds hella batter too. Ill try and get a VID of my car in action sometime soon, but im stoked for the Lightweight Flywheel & ACT clutch to get installed hopefully in the spring 08'

A few other minor details are things like the CF hood, removal of spare tire, roadside tools, etc.. just to drop a few pounds.

As fer your FG1 (R18) vs FG2 (K20)
57HP/11TQ are the numbers they have over base model versions.
Not to mention the FG2 are approx 200lb heavier in weight.

My point here is...with some mild modifications to come to 197Hp
wouldnt take a great deal to do however....

K20 has us because of the LSD, 6-SPEED and lets not forget about all the extra crap i would never use such as moonroof, spoiler, etc..

*Do not take this as a Si bash post ,cuz it aint!
my buddie has a Taffy Si and its sweet so dont get me wrong here k.

Just some love for the R-series is in order! lmao

Re: 2002 Grand Am W quad 4

hey, we got nothing against the r, cuz u could say the same thing about our d17, basic model civics just arent fast, and i still love em, they are fun as hell, right now i wouldnt trade my civic for the world, i love it, but i just have to face it, its slow, period, but it sounds good, looks good, and its my baby, the r18 is a quick little motor, but if i ever get another civic, it will be dohc, and vtec, but in ur defense fgcoupe, there is nothing wrong with the 8th gen, its just not my cup o tea, were not hatin on vics, wed never do that, most of us are against street racing thats all

Re: 2002 Grand Am W quad 4

Oh man, I have nothing against r18's in any way (intake manifold excluded) but racing the base model against the sport model and expecting any outcome other than getting thrown in a hole and laughed at (stock for stock) is ridiculous.

Rep for being the first person to post something worth reading about the r18 instead of "my vtaaakk kicked in a I so totally pulled 4 fenderz on him like mad jdm tyte."

Re: 2002 Grand Am W quad 4

Yeah man, there are a couple of kits being tested for the r18 but since hondata is only working on engine management for the 'z3 right now (as far as 8th gens are concerned) there really doesn't seem to be much on the horizon. Over @ 8thcivic we've had to bust down on a few kits that members were trying to advertise simply because they were obviously crap.

I know that AJP has a kit in the works, but they have some serious customer service issues and honestly I think that they're about to tank as a shop simply because they can't get their **** together and do good business with anyone other than locals.

Re: 2002 Grand Am W quad 4

AJP = JOKE!

RedShift = In the works for R18 kit (this is what im awaiting)
I have done my car up in means for this kit, by upgrading the exhaust to the 2.25" all the way down, 2.5" Downpipe and leaving the intake alone (no choice there anyhow but w/e) becasue when the s/c is released it would have to have its own intake for the charger if im correct. then with the ACT clutch and Fidanza flywheel itll scream down the track.

meh, i asked dave about six months ago, was referred to another moderator, and never heard anything back. if triz's user title is true, that he's a super mod, rather than just being a play on the quote in his sig, i think he should have the ability to promote people to mod status, but i'm not certain that that's how it works. judging by the response, or lack thereof, the last time i asked for mod status, i'm not holding my breath. i may be a little too abrasive, or honest, for mod status. it's a web site, so i don't really care either way.

im glad some of the things that were said... were said. because im tired of n00bs with ex d17s and r18s saying ohh my vtec made me win or my vtec this....NO your vtec saved you gas..... i saw another thread about a vtec controler WTF your vtec kicks in at like 3k what else do you want it will do jack **** to your car...i love 7gs and 8gs. but i just had my dads 8th gen for a week because my alti needed things that i didnt have time for during the week... and to get it any type of fast is going to take ALOT has no torque and in fifth gear on the highway to pass some one i usually press on the gas and i pass some one.... the 8th gen would barely respond to any type of pedal change wtf... <3 k20

I Assumed my cars Ivtec engaged @ 5-6k rpms and i accept all flames made @ that assumption thats was my ignorance and it does show that i am a newb to 8th gens and i should not have assumed anything.

Hopefully everyone can forgive my ignorance

Remember I said dave is offically a bot now? I said that because he is. He doesnt log in, and has offically peaced out on the site. I hate to say it, but he has. There is another new guy, jason thats working with the site, but I havent heard form him since he introduced himself a few weeks ago. So to be honest... I have no clue whats up. I am a supermod, I was promoted the other week, yay.

I think I repped you recently ambulance, correct- the last week or two? Refresh my memory, I rep too much. If I did then... we'll I'll explain that when you answer.

But anyways. Even being a super mod, I do not have the ability to promote people to mods myself, its a group decision. There are a few members that I think would be good to have as heads on the staff. I'll see what I can do.

It seems this thread has gone off topic. I have no idea where to move it now. Off topic, general automotive discussion, 8th gen, site news? Hmm.. the life of a supermod.

Too bad the thread rating system isnt around anymore.
