Little Red Corvett

I was out data loging tonight and came up next to an older guy and his wife driving a mid 90s hard top corvett, 6spd, with atleast an exhaust. I was trying to hold my rpms in a higher range for a long period of time, to make the data loging sesion more benificial. So as we left a light I slowly ran 2nd out to around redline, and apparently he thought I was getting on it trying to race (little did he know that I was at around 15% throttle at the time ). He took off at full thottle, after debating following him I decided it had been some time since I have had a decent street race, so I followed. He was quite a few cars ahead and by the time I really floored it, thinking that he had destroyed me he let off just as I began catching up. We caught the next light, and I was ready to show him what "just a civic" could do. When it turned green we both slowly rolled out, not launching, but then put it to the floor at almost the same time. We ran it out from around 15mph to 96mph (I know this because I logged it all on the K-pro ) and I ended up about 5 cars ahead and still pulling when I let off. We slowed down and they pulled next to me both husband and wife (I guess it could have been his girlfiend ) both gave me a big thumbs up. I must say that it was worth leaving behind my data loging goals for this brief encounter.

Re: Little Red Corvett

yes it was around a 94, I believe ~300hp/300trq, plus the exhaust and whatever other mods he may have had. I have an NA Kswap that made over 200whp on a Mustang Dyno, and I weigh 2,500lbs on the nose. It may have been a bit less than 5 cars, but it was atleast 3 cars.

Re: Little Red Corvett

Intake, race header, exhaust, and yes a really good tune. The tunner did say that my K20a2 with IHE made more power than a K20a that he had on the same dyno with IHE, so maybe I got a factory freak.

Re: Little Red Corvett

I don't ever go to the drag stip, I am just an autox/road course enthusist at heart . Yeah, the one time I did take it to the track and ran those times was the 1st and only time at the track, it was around 100 deg., I hot lapped, and basically sucked all around cutting no better than a 2.4 60'. I am sure that with those tires, cooler conditions, and more practice I could have gotten down to 13.8 or so.

Now I am about 30lbs lighter, and have much better street tires, so I would say that it is capable of 13.6-13.8. The launch kills the car on street tires. I have beaten a few proven high 13 sec cars from a dig by 1 car + each time, and got beat by an 02+ M3 by around a car our so. From a roll I have taken out some proven mid-low 13sec AWD cars.

Cool, too bad the Corvette models after that are mean as hell, but +1 on the win.
