Exclamation All-Motor Help!!

I have been on the look-out for new performance engine parts...but can't seem to find any. I have recently purchased and installed a set of Crower Cams Billet Piston Rods, and a complete custom set of JE Forged Aluminum 81.5/9:1 Dome Pistons w/ Rings. But that's not enough...I also am needing a new camshaft, retainers, studs, gaskets (preferably copper), fasteners, and crankshaft. Does anyone have any idea where I can find these parts (preferably new) for a 1.7L SOHC.

yeah ... 9:1 compression pistons are gonna hurt you.

stock is 9.9:1 for an EX, I believe... you should go with 11:1-12:1

exactly. lowering the compression and staying all motor is a bad idea.

Vantage should not be trusted
agreed, keep stock pistions over that. Maybe shave the head or something to get more compression, but 9.0:1??? not to be an *******, but its basic knowledge low = boost, high = N/A. try doing a lot more homework before digging into ur engine or u might hurt it more than u help...

agreed. its basic knowledge lower compression-boost. high compression n/a. so I would study before you throw anything in your car other than intake, exhaust, headers. If you plan on boosting, get some 9:1 compression, but dont install them yet. Wait til you are gonna be throwing the turbo or nitrous on.

Exactly...I fully agree with all of you with the low/high compression. It's hard making only $14.70/hour, but i'm trying to save for a Stafford Fabrications Turbo with upgrades from True Honda. That s**t doesn;t come cheap that's for sure. But yeah...thanks for all of the info on the compression. The only "performance" modifications installed are the clutch kit and shifter so far. I'm pretty much waiting for everything to be received in the mail before any installation is done.My goal is to have everything done by the winter so I have plenty of time to break everything in before most of the shows and races start here in Waco in the spring.

SF is out of business. I suggest you look at the dezod.com kit instead. It's actually been tested on a 7thgen too.

Really...? I didn't know that (as you can see). Thanks for the extra website...i'll check that one out as soon as I can. do you know what kind of HP it makes and at what PSI? I was really looking for something around 7-9PSI...something I could upgrade really easily with future engine mods.

I have a SF kit....it is great

You can buy a used one from ppl on the site...check the F/S forum.

You can easily make 190whp at 8-9psi with the SF kit. Some ppl have made more and one person made over 250whp at 14psi on a stock motor.

Thanks for the NEW info...I'll look around a little more on the site. By the way...on 2F2F, that's not his BOV, that's what they call a NOS Purge Kit. You can buy ot from mostly any nitrous oxide dealers including: NOS, NX, Venom, Edelbrock, etc...

Na man! I ain't making fun of anybody...he thought it was something else than what it really was...everybody has done that once in their lives...I didn't even know what it was until I saw the making of the movie on TV. And also civic01vtec, you don't have to run NOS through ur engine to get that set-up...Edelbrock sells a special hook-up kit so that u can just have a purge kit, and not the entire NOS system going to ur engine...just the purge. JCWhitney's latest sport compact catalog sells this kit also with either blue, red, or green L.E.D. lights for an even better effect.

you must be completely new to the internet.

when people say stupid things, there's always somebody that sticks it in their sig to remind everyone how stupid/funny it was.

I forget who but somebody used to have a quote I made in their sig. I said she had the IQ of a donut. you should really keep the attitude in check cause this is JUST the internet. especially when it's YOU that doesnt exactly know whats goin on.
